I was happy to see both Paul and Isabelle won their prize at the Golden Globes, so well deserved! The best movie I saw in 2016. I still plan to see it. My favourite sis said the whole theatre was in tears afterwards. I think those of us who are "social workers" will find it an important movie to watch. There is a lot of work to be done in this field unfortunately. At work we always say it can happen to anybody, so that is something often realize myself when we help people. Let see: By coincidence I had an Amy Adams "sequel": one day: "American Hustle", nice. A few days Later: "Nocturnal Animals", a bit complicated to follow sometimes but it was a good story. It is that feeling that you can be taken over by a story reading it, I thought it was cleverly made. Then beside that: "I, Anna". Not the best part I ever saw Anna Rampling play, but I really like her acting in general, so I did enjoy watching her again.

It is not that strange this happened. It does happen more often that people die soon after a loved one, like husbands and wives who have been together for a long time. I remember my grandmother sort of gave up fighting her illness after she had heard my father had died, and passed away herself. I've enjoyed the movies of Debbie Reynolds, I didn't know Carrie Fisher was her daughter. Talent ran in the family obviously. R.I.P.

You're welcome. Did you think it was predictable? I guess it is different watching this as a woman. My (male) friend who watched it with me said I shouldn't 'perceive' it so much and keep a bit of distance while watching. (not sure perceive is the correct word in English but you'll probably get what I mean to say.) Basically I can't help that, it is the way I am, but with this movie it did get to me that I did. Still, it is probably a huge compliment to the makers and due to the great playing by Isabelle.

Hi Kinuta, did you see her in "Elle"? She was fabulous there. I've just discovered Paul Verhoeven is nominated for a Golden Globe with this movie. I think he deserves to win. If you haven't seen it, I would highly recommend you do. It is an awful story, but it was one of the best I've seen in years. Isabelle Huppert has a great deal to do with that. She's amazing!

Hi Gheorghe, I'm really sorry to hear about your hand. It must have been really tough just sitting watching your band play, I know. Hope it will be fully recovered soon, so you'll be able to play in the way you used to! Good to hear your plans for next year! Take care. Kind regards, page

Hell or High Water Entertaining. Not the best "western" I ever saw, but nice. I lóved the music and I did notice Nick Cave's name there to have an input.

Yeah, me too. I'm watching series 2 of Borgen at the moment. Getting hooked, although sometimes I wonder why I want to watch more political drama than the ones from real life. Dicte needs a bit getting into, I think. I did take some time with me, but I did learn to appreciate the story. Maybe I like that bit of rebellion, since the feeling is recognsable. Give it some time.

Happy Birthday, Gheorghe! Did you work with that singer again yet?

Happy Birthday, Jim!

I'm expecting Hutchfan to feel that way. John Chilton, a jazz author

Great! Can you do harmonies like a blackbird?

Florence Foster Jenkins. Another true story. People laughed a lot in the cinema. I basically found it very sad and admired the hb who must have loved his wife very much to make that all happen. Great piano playing by Simon Helberg.

What's your desktop background/wallpaper?

Usually it is a picture of my cat. She's very photogenic. Right now a picture of a leaf covered in snow made by a friend of mine who is a great photographer. It is stunning. Before this one a picture of Alcazar Spain, inside the palace. One I took when I was there in September. -
I've just found out a couple of days ago, my provider offers me: Borgen season 1 (not sure how many seasons there are already). I quite like it. Political drama. In my own language De zaak Menten (The case Menten) about a journalist revealing the actions of war criminal Pieter Menten during WOII. True story. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5749974/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Last month here was this duo playing at a classical tv program here, I would have loved to have seen live. They were attending a cello festival in Amsterdam. Unfortunately I couldn't go. It is a bit folk orientated, I like that. While looking for the link I did find some links to the cello festival. If you don't mind some Dutch commentators you can take a look and get an impression: The cello group appearing at the beginning is called Cello8tet who did the opening of the festival. They were mixing theatre with playing with a performance called "Instant Happiness". They were trying to express the consumer society and the cause of that and the thing with the clothes had to do with incidents in the clothing industry like the one in Bangladesh. Also parts of the cello used in films. You can see more through the website of the festival itself. I've just discovered it myself so do not know which performance link is best. It took place at the Bimhuis and the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. Anyway, enjoy! http://www.cellobiennale.nl/

Duet: Yo Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin Andante - Vivaldi And then this one: This makes me smile all over and know why I love this so much, such great musicians! FUN!

Thank you for posting, it is lovely! It has been a little fantasy of mine to learn to play the cello and combine that with my singing. I'm not sure I will ever be able to get into that since I'm long an adult and this would be a totally new approach to learn to play music. It would cost a lot of money too, which I don't have, but it is nice to dream, ain't it?! What a beautiful lady she is, in more ways than one. I love her playing! Thank you so much for pointing her out. I'm going to look for her album. Kind regards, page

R.I.P Leon. See previous post.

R.I.P. Mose. Is it just me or does it seem like all of my heroes are passing away in a hurry... Very sad.

Lol, I've always loved the cello myself. I wasn't aware that particullar reason could have the been the cause. Oo lala! I have been thinking about duets of just cello and voice recently. I wonder what that means subconciously....

I feel very sad. An inspirational artist who touched my heart when I was a girl and held it since then. R.I.P dear sir.
