I don't think I know that series, thanks. Btw do you know who the performer is of the rendition of "Secret Heart" that was played during the end credits the last episode? Is that the original artist or a rendition?

Hope it will get here too. I can imagine you missing the "Godzilla" of the series like they called her, I think I will too. I also like her part on "Happy Valley", that was quite an opposite. Who's the other pretty lady named Alicia? Lovely ending of "The A-word" indeed. Following a new series called "The Syndicate". Looking forward to a documentary on Amy Winehouse that is planned for this week. Also, on the BBC, a program on Gareth's Invictus choir. I've seen something on him before where he was organizing a reunion of choirs he had worked with before, school choirs. I really enjoyed that at the time. Not sure this is a re-run or a new program, but I will try to catch it when I can.

Shakespeare (in and out of jazz)
page replied to A Lark Ascending's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I think it was on BBC2 a program about Shakespeare. A few times there was music, a couple of duets I really liked. I didn't see the whole program. -
I don't think I know "Trapped". I've looked it up, I meant "Fortitude" which takes place at the Artic. Eccleston played a small part in that one. You mentioned the boy in "the A-word" earlier and his good acting. I thought the same boy played in "Safe House" but I'm mistaken. (Both had name "Joe" in the series and sometimes they use the child's own first name to make it easy.) His name is "Max Vento". The boy in "Safe House" is also a Max but than with last name "True". He has done more acting (since 2012), while Max Vento just has started it seems here in "the A-word".

'Follow the money' is really, really good, I can tell you. This 'Icelandic' one is that the one with Christopher Eccleston? I've really enjoyed his acting in "Black out" and other series. Now he's in "the A word" too. I think he's a fine actor.

Yes, it is Cm. It isn't Eb it has a minor key. I can not think of a big band called that way, but I'll go search. I know a singer called Marleen but she'll be too young for the time you've said.

Derek Watkins and John McLevy are listed for the "Live in Stockholm" album. So it might be one of them. Is that the recording you are referring to?

Thanks for the info guys. ITV, I don't think I have that one.

Yes, I'm curious how that will sound too. I would be surprised when she would have given you the wrong keys than the ones she wants, but there are singers who don't know their keys, you are right about that. Yes, I thought about Ella's rendition of Time after Time, another arrangement I got since one big band asked me for it. In the end we performed other songs. Ella did that in G and Ab since there is a modulation. Bb seems rather high to me for a lady singer. I didn't mean that about every big band, just the one I worked with at the time. They didn't like too many flats or sharps for the horn players which is understandable. I could have easily done it a bit up or down, but since then all parts had to be written into music software that was a lot of work. I might still do that though, in case I want to do the song in another key than Db.

Ah, I'm almost afraid to ask which BBC channel? I might not be able to watch it when I don't have the channel. I did notice I can watch "Last tango in Halifax" now, but it is series 3, so would I be able to get into it while missing the first 2 series? Happy Valley series 2 already on too, so I will be able to watch that episode I've missed last time. Scott & Bailey is on too, not a new series though, I've already seen it either on belgium tv or the BBC or it is a rerun I can't remember where I've seen it. So which series is it, 5?

Hm, that's interesting. I will pay attention to that. With the big band there were a lot of tunes in Eb and some in Ab. never in Db though, too many flats I think. I had this great transcription of a Sarah Vaughan song I didn't bring in for that reason. It was in Db, they didn't like that. I could of course transpose the scores but that is a lot of work to do for all instruments, my only problem would be the drummer part. I have no idea how to write that in Sibelius. So I would need some help. Another song with a transcription of Julie London with a big band was in A. They didn't want to do that either, although the hornparts didn't use all the sharps. I've always found it a pity. But maybe, some other time with another big band. I do 'No moon" as a swing tune but Julie London/Barney Kessel did the verses in Latin and the bridge in swing which is also nice. In one of my originals I do the same. I do use her key on this song which is Gm (another Bb ) I love those duets she did with Barney Kessel. I have a few transcriptions. I agree with your bassplayer and would choose a few bossas for sure.

Wow, perfect pitch, you have my admiration! Great, well I just wanted to offer my help where I can. I have quite a lot of tunes in Bb or Gm on my repertoire, so I guess I'm a Bb girl myself. Here are Ella and Basie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbXJvBI7s3g

Hi Gheorghe, I would have added some latin songs myself, but maybe that is a taste thing. Some nice swing tunes there. Moondance would be Cm btw since it is a minor key song. I've done it in that key with a big band since the arrangement was in it. With a combo I did it in the original key Am, which I prefer. I'm beginning to see the light, I did in C as well which was Ella's key with Count Basie. I do have those sheets still, so if you need one let me know by pm. Some of these songs I did in a slightly other key but I have written them in Sibelius (music notation software) and can change the keys pressing a few buttons. I have sung "Comes love" with a jazz choir years ago, but can't remember which key it was. it is a bit funny song. I do have that sheet somewhere but not digital I think. I don't know Blue Champagne either. Anyway, if you need any sheets I might be able to help you. Kind regards, page
