  1. This is a different book than Jazz (twelvetree press) or Jazz Seen. It about 275 pages or so. Claxton signed a copy of Jazz and Jazz Seen for me some time ago; priceless!!! Well, maybe not priceless but I wouldn't part with them! Mark
  2. ....you first!
  3. ...don't forget to find that copy of Money Jungle !
  4. ...can these "bonus points" be redeemed for anything ?
  5. I think this signing shows it's all about the money (as if we needed another example) and not the opportunity to win. I think the Mets are several pieces away from even making the playoffs, let alone winning a World Series. I can't believe the Cubs didn't put any effort into signing him; he would have a better chance of winning with them (although I could care less if the Cubs ever won another game ). I would have bit the bullet and moved Sosa despite his overpriced salary. I did hear someone say they could move Sosa to 1st base; what a disaster that would be!
  6. Happy Belated Birthday, Jeff!!! No PC at home for the past five days and haven't been on line since Friday. Hope you had a great one! Mark
  7. ...what's a saxophone?

...all of these new ones list the label as ANGEL . What's up with this?
  13. Hey, come back; who the hell are you ???
  14. Thanks for the report/photos, Mark. I'm really looking forward to the Fathead tribute to Ray CD-I've saved one of my Border's gift cards specifically for that one, which is out on January 11, I believe. If anyone should do a tribute to Ray, its Fathead. B-) Dan, Fathead played two songs from the cd last night (Georgia on my mind & Hit the Road Jack). The playlist is: ~Hit the Road Jack ~Georgia on my Mind ~When Your Lover Has Gone ~Drown In My Tears ~Deed I Do ~It Had To Be You ~Ruby ~Them That Got (I Ain't Got Nothing Yet) Fathead-Tenor Steve Nelson-Vibes John Hicks-Piano John Menegon-bass Winard Harper-drums I'm spinning it at work right now; worth a listen, for sure!
  15. Same thing in this case, Jim; Fathead played with Henry Johnson's Organ Express (with Chris Foreman on B-3). While this band is very good, they played 4-5 tunes before Fathead joined in. Newman did sound great though; played alto, tenor and flute during his 45 minutes of playing!
  16. ...and another. I'll post some good ones in a few days. Got to get some sleep! Mark
  17. ....one photo
  18. Here's a couple quick photos from tonights Fathead Newman show in Chicago. Great show and packed house. I spoke to Newman for 20 minutes before the show and a few minutes afterwards. I asked him about the Ray Charles dvd in Brazil and specifically about Tina Brooks and he said he loved playing with Tina and always felt Tina was underrated; was a joy to play with. I asked him how long Tina played with Ray and he said about 2 years. I also gave Fathead a matted print that I made of him last year and he gave me a signed copy of his new CD that will be out in the near future. It's a tribute to Ray Charles (see below). I listened to it on my drive home; nice stuff!
  19. Happy New Year to all!
  20. I'm going to see them tomorrow, backing up Fathead Newman !!! Will post photos sometime next week! Won't be Broom on guitar but Henry Johnson.
  21. My better half gave me an original print of this image, signed by William Gottlieb for our first Christmas together years ago! I spoke to him about a year later and told him I had the print; I found him to be a very friendly guy! Mark
