...saw him last night in Indy and had dinner with him. Great guy and a blast to talk to. He was telling me he lived in Indy for a very short time in the early 70s....but didn't recall the exact year. He shared some stories with me about some of the Indy players he work with back in the day. Great show~ Although I've only begun the editing process of my shoot, here is a photo of the good Doctor and one with him and Mel Rhyne. m ....drummer was Anthony Penciotti.

I was wondering who would bring this up. There may always be debate about whether he belongs in the Hall (Marty will tell you many reasons why he should) there is no way in hell he belongs in the broadcaster's area of the Hall. I mean, that's ludicrous. I've never been sure about his qualifications as a player but there's no doubt it didn't hurt that he had friends on the Veteran's Committee. Oh, I totally agree with you; it was a facetious comment. I don't think he belongs in the Hall under any guise. I think people who obsess about who deserves or doesn't deserve to be in HOF are the kind of people who make listening to sports talk radio such an ordeal. ...amen brother!

I would say it's doubtful that he is currently on steroids. Dan is the man with the stat book, he can help you out. m

I think this guy may have a little more knowledge than you on the subject. Why anything needs to be proved to you...I'm not sure. Whether or not you believe he took steroids has no effect on whether he did or didn't. m~

...from a guy in the dugout with him. NEW YORK (AP) -- Brian Johnson said it's "hard to dispute" that former teammate Barry Bonds cheated by using performance-enhancing drugs. Johnson, appearing Sunday on ESPN's Outside the Lines, recounted what he told the staff of baseball steroids investigator George Mitchell. Johnson, a catcher with Bonds' San Francisco Giants in 1997 and 1998, also was asked by ESPN about Bonds, who tied Hank Aaron's career home run record on Saturday night. "You can make a fair argument that he may have been cheating," Johnson said. "Based on what has been documented, it's hard to dispute that argument." Johnson played with six major league teams from 1994-01 and said he spoke with the Mitchell investigators about his knowledge of steroids use. "It was kind of a cloak-and-dagger society. Guys that were taking knew of each other and talked about things among themselves," Johnson said. "What I saw was that guys who were taking would never admit it, would never allow anybody to see. But it was pretty obvious to all of us that they were taking. ... Some people sold their soul to the devil and other people didn't." Johnson hopes the investigation does more than document users. "We need to do more than just find out who did it, crucify them, sweep them aside, and move forward," he said. "We need to do more than that."
