    New Solal

Is the first title music to read the Dava Sobel book by?
  3. It was exactly the same with me. The episodes varied widely in quality, but the show made a big impression and the music was a part of that for sure. After a while, even as a kid, the different-monster-every-week approach began to wear thin, but I still watched it.
  4. But I'll bet he still had a "polished voice."
  5. Now THERE'S an understatement. The CEO's and corporate boards of the big 3 have driven their companies into the ground, and they deserve to lose market share.
  6. I love my vinyl classical, but surface noise during the quiet passages can be a bother sometimes.
  7. Sorry, what is it? I can't make out anything on the tiny picture. Here's all the info: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?...rm=frooglemusic Thank you for that HG. One question: Cleveland? I mean...nothing against Cleveland, I just wouldn't have ever thought that Cleveland would have, you know... I was in Cleveland once, maybe that's why I can't imagine anything good coming from there. The Cleveland Symphony Orchestra is one of the finest classical orchestras in the United States, particularly under the leadership of conductor George Szell. Never mind the physical city, as far as classical music goes Cleveland is up there with Boston, Philadelphia, and New York.
  8. Surprised that Manhattan now comes in 6th! Still, I don't think I'll be looking into any 5th Avenue condos anytime soon. (Or ever.)
  9. I figured he was referring to the 32nd piano sonata, but wasn't going to say anything. Hands and feet, etc.
  10. Beat me to it! That's my favorite cycle as well.
  11. ...And 60's pop songs, apparently.
  12. You just don't like other people controlling your television set.
  13. He does have another one as a leader... But this one is so intense! Short though.
  14. Sounds like it might be very fun to listen to.

    RIP: Bo Diddley, 79

Will play "Mona" tonight. Thanks for the music, Bo. RIP
  16. Wish I could be there!
  17. I remember that. As I recall, the changeover came sometime in the early (or early-to-mid) 70's. Up 'til then Dunkin' Donuts made a decent cake-style doughnut. All of a sudden their doughnuts were greasy and tasteless. I actually thought I got a bad batch. But no, that's just how their doughnuts were from then on, and it was right around the time they started expanding like crazy and putting out adds about how great they were. What amazed me is that no one seemed to care that the donuts had gone from good to terrible. It certainly taught me something about chains and quality.
  18. I take exception to that. I'm a Yankee, and I hate their (so-called) donuts, I hate their coffee, their stores, and their whole crappy chain.
  19. Good for you. I ain't buyin' 'em either.
  20. I'm not sure where the anger towards DD comes from. Unless you're blaming them for intentionally putting her in a scarf designed to strike fear into the hearts of the lunatic right? I'll tell you where the anger towards Dunkin' Donuts comes from. It comes from growing up in New England and watching them take over every corner with their shitty, ugly outlets, like some corporate blight. DD should never in a million years have given in to the far-right crazies by pulling this add, it just encourages those dangerous wackjobs. NOW they can say they were correct about the scarf, otherwise Dunkin' Donuts wouldn't have pulled the add, etc. Thanks a lot, but that's about what I'd expect from the Dunkin' Donuts weasels.
  21. Give me Tintin, Krazy Kat, and Little Lulu. Though I will admit to being an Alan Moore fan.
  22. Twenty-seven simolians (dollars) for the Salvador? Just not fair!!
  23. I for one have never found Alan Dawson a boring drummer.
  24. Well, I always thought Dunkin' Donuts was run by idiots...
  25. I was also a big fan of Harvey Korman back when I was a kid. Sad news indeed, but at least he had a great career and lived a long time. Here's to you, Harvey.
