  1. Yes! Swede, you are the Swingingest.
  2. Thanks for that.
  3. It's my understanding that Chet Atkins was the man responsible for that. He was not only a recording artist, he was also RCA's a&r man for Nashville. Ultimately, it's probably like blaming the Great Depression on Calvin Coolidge.
  4. Little Lulu rules. I was fortunate enough to discover it at the age of ten, and if anything, became an even bigger fan as an adult.
  5. I certainly won't be getting rid of my Goodman "Giants of Jazz" box, that's for sure.
  6. Good news indeed! Let's hope the progress continues. MG Agreed! Hope things continue to go well for him.
  7. Earlier I added this to a political thread titled the Police. It took me a few min to realize what I did. I haven't heard any of the recent performances, but personally I wouldn't care, as Copeland and Summers are the *real* stars in my book. An interesting parallel is Cream. Clapton became a megastar, but Baker and Bruce (especially the stuff with Kip Hanrahan) produced the more provocative music post-dissolve. There is a parallel in that both Sting and Clapton were fairly lame singers. As for a new Police album...be still my heart. They might do better to just release a new single. The kids don't "do" albums these days, and the Police always struck me as a good singles band but not very good at programming an album.
  8. Make that song go away. Please. A very talented and driven guy, undoubtedly, but reading his obits I guess we have him to thank for the dreaded "Nashville sound," what was later dubbed "Countrypolitan." Wow.
  9. Ah yes, Mad City. That looked pretty bad.
  10. The Goodman Columbia should be a nice complement to the Goodman Capitol Mosaic.
  11. "American Squirm" from Nick Lowe's Labour of Lust album. Jazz? Oh, then it would probably be "23 Red" from Woody's Winners.
  12. I've only heard an earlier vinyl version, and the sound wasn't great, but certainly wasn't a deal-breaker either. For two bucks you can hardly go wrong. It's MINGUS fer pete's sake!
  13. Well, I know this guy in Boston who's really into jazz. If you view the Earth from high orbit, then we're neighbors.
  14. I haven't seen this yet. What Belle & Sebastian songs are in it? I notice they had a song in the Sarah Marshall movie and I thought it worked.
  15. After the initial shock of Robert Downey Jr. in the title role, I have to admit that the film looks like it might be good. Will see.
  16. Cool. But what of Marain symbols?
  17. That's good news. About when was that, if you remember? Right when it came out, as far as I can recall.
  18. Is it both sentient and incomprehensible?
  19. Same here---can see it, but not on my keyboard. BTW, I always thought the pound sign was a cooler looking monetary symbol than our $.
  20. Sez YOU! But of course. I guess that means I favor the "Left Brain"?
  21. He speaks 187 languages along with their related dialects and sub-tongues.
  22. Clearly she's going counter-clockwise.
  23. The connection there is what now?
