  1. Yeah, early Evans is great Evans, as far as I'm concerned anyway.
  2. And Everything Must Go was better than that, which in turn was surpassed by Morph the Cat! Past their prime my fat ass; these guys keep getting better with age! Yes. Although of the three, Everything Must Go is my favorite. As it happens I've never watched the Grammies. Don't see any reason to start, either.
  3. I agree that seasons 5 and 6 both had quite a few good episodes. What are the three episodes from season 5 that you consider among the best the series ever ran? Just curious (we all have our favorites.)
  4. No argument there.
  5. Well of course... Actually, I heard that at least part of the second season overlapped the 1988 writer's strike, which gives them an excuse for not improving the storylines much from the first season. Overall, the third season was an amazing improvement over the second, and I agree that the fourth was their best. It was steadily downhill from there, though. Growing up I always thought the funniest moment in the original series was when the cascade of tribbles fell on Kirk. But then, that was supposed to be funny. If we're talking about unintentional moments, there are too many to choose.
  6. I too liked him in The Seven Ups. I always felt there was something very engaging about him. Maybe that distinctive long face helped. Very sorry to hear this news. RIP
  7. That's my kind of clubhouse.
  8. His untimely death couldn't have helped, either.
  9. Yojimbo Sanjuro The Seven Samurai
  10. Quite like the cover art m'self. I d'know...it makes me think that Horace is caught in some topological nightmare.
  11. Big Daddy---Jesse Unruh and the Art Of Power Politics
  12. I really love the art in this Crumb comic. It's so damn good. He did a similar comic on the life of Robert Johnson.
  13. Don't forget Charley Patton.
  14. Louis Smith kicks rightous ass on this album! My only criticism of the album is the cover could be better.
  15. Too bad David Janssen didn't live as long.
  16. Seven Men From Now The Tall T Ride Lonesome (Yes, these are among my favorite Westerns, but they could be catogorized as "action" too. Sort of.)
  17. All fine movies. Dirty Dozen and Kelly's Heroes in particular are among my all time favorites. Plenty of good ones posted so far, so I'll throw in some not yet mentioned and excluding westerns. Dirty Harry Enter the Dragon Goldfinger Predator Godzilla vs. Mothra Full Metal Jacket 48 Hours Never thought of Dirty Harry as an "action" film per se, more as a cop film. But I can see that. Certainly one of my favorite Clint Eastwood films, along with most other people on the planet.
  18. That's not true either. Also there's a "Live 1964" (with Joe Henderson & Carmell Jones), and "Natives are Restless Tonight", both on Emerald. There's also something called "On Tour" from 1986, on Silveto. So that's 5 other live recordings that have been officially released. I have the Paris Blues album and it's quite good.
  19. Yes! Good call. As for Bullitt, the famous chase sequence has worn so well over the decades that it must be considered close to timeless. The rest of the film...well, not so much.
  20. Yeah, I only remember them through cartoon references. I like them (or the idea of them) though. There should be a word for having nostaglia for something that you're too young to have direct experiance of. ("Neo-stalgia"?)
  21. Charley Varrick The Big Steal The Wages of Fear Army of Shadows
  22. The Paris apartment you mention sounds very nice, but my GOD, this looks pretty dreamy to me.
  23. ...I like the java-jive and it likes me.
