  1. The Birth of the Pastel?
  2. I'd say the Lee Wiley is the peach and the Ellington box is a whole peach tree.
  3. I tend to agree. What's up with that? Still... Hutch!!!!
  4. I've never seen that album. How is it?
  5. Ah, the Forties... World War II...the birth of Bop...the birth of the cool...film noir...The Spirit...jump blues... Huh? Oh. Nevermind.
  6. Nice soundtrack, too.
  7. Wow! Congratulations!
  8. The moral of the story: Those walls are there for a reason.
  9. Great choice! Paul Desmond is one of my favorite jazz musicians. I've also got the Desmond/Hall Mosaic box and often don't bother to note which songs go with which album. I only wish I'd also bought the CD version, as it would be nice to listen to this stuff without surface noise, but that's a minor point. (The only Mosaic I play more often than this is the Shorter/Morgan Vee-Jay.)
  10. "Two sides" is on Collectibles - available MG Yeah, Bruce......and if you hit that Collectibles site soon, you'll also be able to pick up this 'priceless' one for a paltry $5.97!! Be still, my heart.
  11. My biggest single order came to $700. Never again!
  12. Very much looking forward to that new edition of Seven Samurai.
  13. Thanks for the article.
  14. I still have a lot of affection for the Alan Moore-era Swamp Thing.
  15. About damn time!! (Will we have to wait 'til 2010 for season 3?)
  16. Riding a motorcycle without a helment=shit for brains.
  17. Agreed... and (just because I've been listening to him here and there over the past few days) Reece could play pretty well in advanced contexts, too. Dig his work on Passing Ships--right up with Woody Shaw. He could not only cut--he could step out a bit, too. I love his work on Flight To Jordan too.
  18. As a Massachusetts town, I quite like Concord. As a label, well....
  19. I should have bought it when it was on sale for dirt cheap at Amoeba a couple of years ago.
  20. Rainbow's End---Vernor Vinge
  21. The danger was past to whom? Obviously this guy is a thug and might've tried to rob someone else. Or come back and try to rob the same place again.
  22. More like swinging King.
  23. I've got Easterly Winds, which is also not "change-your-life good" but certainly "damn-nice-sounding-CD good." Never seen Two Sides, but I'll be keeping an eye out.
  24. What he said!
  25. I don't remember that "Perfect T-Shirt" album.
