  1. Seems like everybody's going! R.I.P.
  2. I'll have to dig this out... I remember liking it a lot. I'll get back to ya.
  3. I learned about the site last week when it was talked about on NPR. I must admit I initially watched Letterman and Daily Show clips on it. Should have realized it had jazz too.
  4. Good news! (Count me as another Wiley junkie.)
  5. What the Hell??? Was the guy's name George Costanza?
  6. Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!!! I envy your memory. I bought my first jazz album in 1979 or 1980, I think, but if I can't be sure about the year, I sure as hell can't pin down the DAY! More power to ya, and keep on listenin'!
  7. Did I mention Fountains of Wayne?
  8. Sorry to hear that his life seemed to go downhill. Such a talented guy. R.I.P.
  9. Word. And you can find a lot of deals by haunting the used sections of independent music stores. Too many big boxes are unhealthy (I know I'm one to talk, but still....)
  10. On the other hand, I'd have to go with what Jazzbo said. Although a lot depends on what kind of jazz you like most. But the Capitol set is more likely to have stuff that will remain hard-to-imossible to find for a long time. But don't avoid the Roach just because you saw him do a bad set in, like, 1999. That's like someone avoiding Parker's Dials or Savoys because they heard him once when he was strung out.
  11. Hey, c'mon...he was elderly by then and probably ill as well. When I saw him in Cambridge, MA in the 1980's he was fantastic. And in his prime he was even better.
  12. Or, to put it another way, it includes all of Blue Serge and Boston Blow-Up. Those two albums alone are worth the price. (The fact that I already had them both on vinyl is measure of how much of a Chaloff fanatic I am.) Come to think of it, if you don't have the Chaloff Mosaic, just get the CD's of Blue Serge and Boston Blow-Up. You won't regret it, believe me.

    Prestige RVGs

I still only have Walkin' on vinyl. This may be the time to finally get it on CD.
  14. Maybe 'cause it wasn't a BN session. That's no excuse!!
  15. I may get the Joe Henderson and Jimmy Smith. (Or maybe not.)
  16. Not good for your mental health!
  17. Kenny Dorham was great, no doubt about it. As usual, the albums I would recommend have been mentioned over and over already, but I'll put in another vote for Whistle Stop and Round About Midnight At the Cafe Bohemia, both essential Dorham albums. Then there's his work with Joe Henderson...
  18. I was gonna say something to the effect of "How much further can her career sink," but I think you may have nailed it. But she's very pinchable. This is one of those remakes of an original which I avoided like the plague. I've heard that the remake is rather better than the original, which doesn't surprise me, but I still don't want to see it. (Now if they remade Charley Varrick...well, that would stink because the original is perfect just the way it is.)
  19. Some scumbag stole my bike from right out of my garage. That kind of pisses me off every time I think about it. Ah, the joys of city living.
  20. An '88 Toyota Camry. And it probably won't be around much longer.
  21. Why doesn't God reimburse the taxpayers?
  22. Bunny Berigan---Giants of Jazz set.
  23. Wasn't Armstrong cleared?
  24. Of maybe it soiled their carpent once.
  25. The dog would be sad if left all alone.
