  1. What a bummer! My sympathies, Moose.
  2. Ah, up to 109 Ellington discs and counting!
  3. Getz, Getz, and more Getz.
  4. Just started The Fabric of the Cosmos by Brian Greene. Don't know if I'll finish it, but SO far it's not hard to understand.
  5. Love Bechet. Great "bite" to his sound.
  6. Now reading: "Jersey Diners" by Peter Genovese. Yum.
  7. Flute, harp, electric piano. There are always exceptions, of course, but in general I'm not a big fan of these in a jazz context.
  8. The Way It Was!--Art Pepper, Contemporary Probably because I still don't have it on CD.
  9. Louis Smith--Smithville C'MON!!
  10. You're not the only one! Yeah, I like this a lot. Something about the sound still sounds a bit funny to me, but I'll take people's word that it's a whole lot better than the original LP. (Actually, a lot of albums from the seventies have something wrong with the sound, to me anyway.) When I bought the CD a few days ago I didn't even know the thing was produced by Becker and Fagan until I got it home and looked at the liners. What a dream come true, getting to produce a session by a couple of your jazz heroes. So far I like the music, but I've got to listen to it a lot more closely. Some new liners putting the album into historical perspective and talking about the bonus cuts would have been nice. Oh, well.
  11. "Life in the hive puckered up my night-- The kiss of death the embrace of life--"
  12. Probably the Brookmeyer select...but really looking forward to the big boxes coming down the pike: Herman, Jazztet, Farlow. Yes!
  13. Wayning Moments. For BN's I would have picked Speak No Evil, but we weren't allowed to vote for more than one. Damnit.
  14. All these projected sets are good news, but I'm really happy about the Jazztet one. A "must have" for me.

I kind of like his Bethlehem record Down Home---anybody heard it?
  16. Doesn't everybody do that?
  17. I can't get it below .2-----my best was .203; not gonna say what my worst was. I'm slow.
  18. Timmons is also on the Lee Morgan album "Lee Way" I believe, along with Jackie McLean. God, I love that record!
  19. Duke Pearson (piano) Pepper Adams (bari sax) Laymon Jackson (bass) Donald Byrd (trumpet) Lex Humphries (drums) Yum! I DON'T have this one yet. Please excuse my drool.
  20. Stuff Smith "Jack Montrose Sextet" "Lee Way" "Flight To Jordan" "Jazz Impressions of Eurasia" Other various Brubecks Vince Guaraldi
  21. Numbers 6 through 9 on the list I'm not really familiar with at all. Much as I love Jackson, Hutcherson, and Dickerson, I threw my vote to Cal Tjader. Why? Two words: "Ginza Samba"
  22. You and me both!
