  1. You said a mouthful! So on this list we've got the Rutles, who were not a real group and from the 70's, but we are missing The Velvet Undrground (from the 60's, very influential, REAL). Hmmm.... For me it's a tossup between The Remains, The Big Three, VU, CCR, and the Beatles. So of course I voted for The Zombies.
  2. Yes! He also did some nice albums for Savoy, such as Blues-ette and Imagination (can't remember the names of the others). Underground---glad you got those albums. The Mosaic's OOP, but this stuff is great music, should be kept in print perennially somehow. Fuller is "THE MAN"---I don't think he ever made a bad album. And how about his work with the Jazz Messengers?
  3. Sweet. One of those "Only in NYC" things, I guess.

Wish I could be there. I'd begun to get the impression he was somewhat underappreciated these days...good to see someone else digs his work!
  5. Me too!
  6. Agreed! Same goes for Here To Stay.
  7. Hey, that compilation rules!
  8. Yeah...kinda ugly, ain't it? Well, now that Ready For Freddie is a U.S. RVG, time to do the same for Here To Stay, Davis Cup, and Flight To Jordan! Right Blue Note? Er, EMI?
  9. I HAVE the related Mosaics, and I STILL couldn't stop myself from buying the Swingtets release! Terrific releases that are great to have in CD form---too bad they can't be kept in print ad infinitum.
  10. Once again, I wonder "Why wasn't that song a jukebox hit?"
  11. Hearty congrats!!!
  12. He's at least as big a genius as Irving Mills.
  13. I never trusted her. Here's the thing that gets me: She WAS a successful stockbrocker at one time. She knew better. When I saw the headline "Stewart's Show Taken Off the Air" for a second I thought they meant JON Stewart! Whew!! I'd hate to be deprived of The Daily Show.
  14. I'll say. I paid several times that much for it, and still thought it was a good deal...and it was! But 4 bucks---they must really want to get rid of it.
  15. I think Tony will write his memoirs and the book will become a huge bestseller. ...Then he'll get bumped off. Or not.
  16. Very saddening. My sympathies go out to his family and friends.
  17. Whassamatta? Ya got some kinda PROBLEM wid last season? HAH?? Well DO YA??
  18. I believe the episode you're talking about is "The Monsters Are Coming To Maple Street"---one of my favorites, and one that holds up well today.
  19. Heroin seems to go in and out of fashion, like skinny ties and wide lapels. I guess this is true of a lot of illegal drugs, but here's some scary news: A bag of heroin, the same kind that 20 or 30 years ago went for thirty dollars, now goes for four dollars. Not forty, that's FOUR dollars!!! So a kid can get hooked for less than the price of a movie or a paperback.
  20. When I was a kid, Spiderman was the obvious favorite. Later, Plastic Man. Best uniform: The Green Lantern.
  21. "To Serve Man"---This one blew my mind when I was a kid.
  22. I wonder of Hawkins was playing a tenor that the Professor made out of bamboo and vines.
  23. Well this is shitty news to wake up to.
