  1. Africa, did you see the T-Bone Mosaic box? It probably has any BN sides he recorded. (It's in some libraries.) BTW, your Thad Jones and Lee Morgan fifties RVG suggestion is primo! Damn, I shoulda thought of that!
  2. Amen to that. I hereby add Take Aim to my fantasy wish-list. (Are you listening, Santa Claus?)
  3. Don't feel bad; that's a good reason.
  4. Sounds good to me!! And the 1953 Urbie Green sextet date and Art Hodes get my vote.
  5. Kenny Burrell---Introducing (2nd disc) Blue Lights vol. 1&2 At the Five Spot Cafe Midnight Blue Louis Smith---Here Comes Louis Smith Art Blakey---Ritual Cannonball Adderley---lots The db's---first 2 albums Mobley---The Flip, Hi Voltage
  6. Just listened to this again today and the last three tracks are just very good tunes. But then I listened to Hi Voltage and I have to agree with Dave: Where's the ballad? Compositionally, "Flip" seems like 3/4's of a good album. (Sonically, it's a dry-run demo for a good album.) Very worth having, just the same.
  7. I know MINE does! Half the reason I listen to Mobley and Tina Brooks is to provide that needed soundtrack.
  8. Hubbard---Here To Stay Mobley---Hi Voltage McLean---Demon's Dance
  9. I second (or fourth?) AfricaBrass's suggestion of more early BN stuff, like the 10" series that went out of print way too fast. A hearty to Swinging Swede's list (love the Quebec cover!)---- And yes to JSngry's Chico Hamilton suggestion. Actually, I too would like the whole West Coast Jazz series to be revived, but I know it ain't gonna happen in this timeline.
  10. Wow. And I always thought Burlingame was such a nice little town.
  11. Nice neighborhood Chris!
  12. What brownie said!
  13. My son's little league team, and that's IT!
  14. Yes. If you're a Keitel fan, Rooster, you should most assuredly check out Reservoir Dogs; he's one of the main characters, and he's great in it.
  15. My strong impression is that the unique chemistry of Television would be impossible without the particular drummer and bassist that they had. Damn me for forgetting the bassist's name (Smith?), but he and Ficca are ESSENTIAL ingredients of the Television sound. BTW, two of my all time best record deals was, in 1980, finding Adventure as a $2.99 cut-out and MM for $4.99! I still listen to them occasionally with pleasure.
  16. Wayne Shorter---Adam's Apple, Wayning Moments Lee Morgan---Search for the New Land, Charisma, Cornbread
  17. It ought to be worth around $800-$1,000. Are you sure it's the real deal? You should maybe put it in a safe.
  18. That's easy: the Marlins and the Yankees. You could not pay me money to watch the current World Series.
  19. I've been waiting for them to RVG Leapin' and Lopin' since the Cool Struttin' RVG came out. DrJ, I've gotta agree, "One for Five" does sound like prime Clark, L&L to be specific. No wonder I like it so much!!
  20. Actually, I too initially loathed the Lennie Briscoe character, mainly because I hated to see Sorvino go I think. But I warmed up to him. This was more or less the pattern with many of the character substitutions on L&O. Initial loathing, fading to acceptance, then fondness. Some, like Angie Harmon, I grew to accept but never love. But I gotta love Orbach. And I'm not enough of a fan of Amercan musical theater of the 1970's to expect him to break into song. Wasn't it strange how Dianne Weist (sp?) didn't last as the DA? After Hill was the DA forever, it seemed like Weist was in and out in no time.
  21. Fuck the World Series. In fact, fuck baseball.
  22. Yeah, that's one of the best things about SVU: the return of Dan Florek. I really missed him on L&O.
  23. What Jazzbo says is true, nevertheless this album is good. If you see it on sale don't be shy about grabbing it. You'll be glad you did.
  24. Looks like they blew it.
