  1. Are you kidding? He's smiling right there! (HIS version of a smile.)
  2. Same here. I would hate to see it go.
  3. Not Brian Eno....

    Duke Jordan

Very classy! And did you notice? No audible grunting or moaning.
  5. UN-classy!!
  6. The new one was sold as a remake because in the current environment the studio was more open to spending money that way than on a new film. More marketable. This is nothing new. The big Hollywood studios have found remakes to be a "safer" investment for at least the last 25 years.
  7. See the original, by all means.
  8. Has Benny Golson gotten the recognition he deserves? Also: Eddie Sauter.
  9. Lee Wiley.
  10. Through record biz history folks go broke trying to bring great stuff to the public. We are not all major corps. Praise Ross Russell for the Dials and regret all the money he lost. AND don't blame folks like this because your latest whim isn't currently available for download. Ross Russell is one of my heroes. And you'll always be a major corp. to ME, Chuck. (I mean that in a good way.)
  11. If you sat on it for too long wouldn't it leave lines on your butt?
  12. Got a Jimmie Lunceford collection called "Strictly Lunceford."
  13. "Crown"....didn't they also make a cola?
  14. Hey buddy, Laura starred Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews...just FYI! (Seriously, though, that clip is amazing, thanks! )
  15. Back in the mid-80's I first acquired the the complete Parker/Dial sessions, on vinyl, from a British label called "Spotlight." I still love those Spotlight-Dial LP's.

    Stan Getz

Yes it's very good and if you have difficulty tracking down the single cd it's available on this fairly recently re-issued 2-fer. This is the one I would love to get; Nobody Else But Me I've got that last one! And it's good! (I've got to warn you though that I don't have a Getz album that I dislike.)

    Stan Getz

It's probably been mentioned more than once already, but I want to put in a word here for the Stan Getz With Cal Tjader album, on Fantasy. "Ginza Samba" is alone worth the price of admission.
  18. 48 and counting Bubba!
  19. My British Invasion anthology came in yesterday. A very mixed bag, but there's some good stuff there.
  20. Yeah, I also started out with the vinyl Monk set back in '84 or 85. Soon got the Tina Brooks as well, and I was off and running... 45 sets later, I'm thinking of slowing down. One of these days.
  21. Very similar to painting yourself into a corner...only even dumber.
  22. Not Bird---and the piano sounds out of tune.
