  1. Yes, wasn't it remarkable that those companies are still around in the 23rd century? Agreed.
  2. What, no Pere Ubu???
  3. "...Jazz is Your Life!" ...and God is my co-pilot.
  4. Ornette was on Atlantic. The others are all Sony/ Columbia, and these are part of their Legacy bells-and-whistles reissues. Odd that they've made Sketches part of this batch of reissues, when KOB was the album featured in the program. Eh, any old tie-in will do, I guess. I've asked this before but.... with an even more super deluxe reissue of Time Out, how come the alternate single take of Take Five has still not been included? I've never seen it listed in any discographies and it's never, to my knowledge, appeared on any CD. Is the single version a different take, or merely an edit of the LP version? Different take I'd love to hear it.
  5. Also if I were in the stands watching. I wouldn't stay very long, that's for sure.
  6. "Pecker" means "courage" in Britain and has no penile connotations. Wow, so in England you could actually tell someone it was time to screw their pecker to the sticking-post?
  7. As I recall, Veronica was vain, demanding, selfish, thoughtless, arrogant, mean, tantrum-prone, and high-maintenance. A parody of a spoiled rich kid. Betty was friendly, outgoing, helpful, kind, would do anything for you, upbeat. Did I mention sweet, supportive, fun-loving, and could cook, sew, and even fix Archie's car? (Also steaming hot but doesn't seem to know it.) So of course Archie took her for granted. He'll probably cry on her shoulder when Veronica makes his life a living Hell (and she will, oh she will...) But then, the only character with half a brain in that comic was Jughead.
  8. One of those EMI 2-fers: This Is June Christy/June Christy Recalls Those Kenton Days And.... The American Roots of the British Invasion (another "dig the originals" compilation)
  9. Riverdale = Haverhill, MA
  10. If she makes noises anything like that during sex then I'd sure hate to live near her.
  11. Just proves what a moron Archie is, as if we needed any more evidence.
  12. You Heard It Here First! (Ace)---26 classics from the 50's and 60's heard here in their original, pre-hit versions. A great idea, and someone could easily fill 3 or 4 (or more) CD's with original versions of hit songs. I didn't know that "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley & the Comets was the SECOND version of that song. The first was by Sunny Dae & the Knights.
  13. BTW, was there a reason that they were fighting with swords on that drill thing? Did the Romulans forget that they have energy weapons? Perhaps in this alternate timeline Romulans don't have anything more advanced than swords (but in that case, why would they have spaceships?) And Vulcan apparently now has an M-class moon, a double-planet system really. And the moon is an (ahem) "ice-planet" while Vulcan is a hot desert planet. Must have a hell of a greenhouse effect going. Fascinating.
  14. Seriously, this and the Jay McShann are good places to start. Someday you should maybe think seriously about getting the complete Dial recordings if you don't already have them, or get a copy from someone. Essential stuff. (That Uptown Bird and Diz live disc is great, too.)
  15. OK, for the last time----I don't expect "great science" (whatever the hell THAT is), I don't expect good science, I don't expect realistic science...what do expect? I expect FAKE science ("fictional," you might say) that makes at least a dime's-worth of sense. Yes, I know, WAY too much. "Red Matter"? I've got you're Red Matter right here.
  16. Charlie Parker recordings you should listen to: All of 'em.
  17. He's the "Red Matter" of jazz.
  18. Finally bought a CD compilation of British Invasion songs. Have tons of this stuff on analog (vinyl and cassette) but very little on CD.
  19. Not bad, not bad at all! Sounds outside but still "in" if you know what I mean.
  20. You can do step #5 by joining a forum like this.
  21. Is that a house made out of Red Matter?
  22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_trek_countdown Ah.
  23. Yaye! Me too! (Although I've also been listening to the Peggy Lee parts.)
  24. I guess that makes the original 1951 The Day the Earth Stood Still Chaucer, Cervantes, and Shakespeare all rolled into one!
