  1. Oh yes, add "Bernie" to my list. Really liked that. I asked for this for Christmas, but didn't get it. Will see sometime.
  2. Happy New Year to all the Organissimites out there.
  3. Let's see... Lincoln The Avengers Argo Jiro Dreams of Sushi Skyfall Robot and Frank Django Unchained Searching For Sugar Man The Central Park Five Wreck-It Ralph (yeah, I liked it; so sue me)
  4. I read about this, too. It always fascinates me how abstract mathematic patterns, originally dreamed up just for their sheer formal beauty, eventually find some real-world use. And no, I don't really understand any of it either.
  5. True enough. I got the impression that half the reason for "Django Uchained" was just to give Waltz another big role.
  6. "Thunderbirds are...not go."
  7. Saw it today. It was a bit better than I expected; damned entertaining in fact, though I also wouldn't say it was my favorite QT. Waltz pretty much owns the film whenever he's on screen, but there were a lot of good performances. One (very minor) cavil----Jonah Hill. Really? Why does freaking Jonah Hill get to be in every other movie that's made these days?
  8. Sorry to hear of his passing. A very talented character actor. RIP
  9. I also stopped being a fan a long, long time ago. She was not only mean and boorishly needy, but MANIC in a way that seemed schticky and set my teeth on edge. But then, for some reason, I went to see the recent documentary about her, "A Piece of Work," and found it quite winning. It really gets you on her side, something I didn't think was possible. So I have to admit, I might like the Showtime special.
  10. My younger son just saw it with friends. He said it was good and that I should see it. But he also said it wasn't as good as IB. So....we shall see.
  11. Titter. It means giggle, but seems suggestive somehow. ("Giggle" is kind of funny, too.)
  12. Wow. Congratulations to all involved!
  13. Belated happy birthday.
  14. All the best, and happy birthday too!
  15. Captain Vorpatril's Alliance - Lois McMaster Bujold. Best new Miles novel in many a year, and Miles isn't even in it.
  16. Ouch.
  17. Considering how much he used to drink, I'm amazed he lasted this long. He must have had a liver of steel.
  18. One of the only comedy shows I've truly loved in years, a shame that season 4 is sitting collecting dust on the shelves until February. And season 4 (a mere 13 episodes) is probably not going to be good because the showrunner, Dan Harmon, was fired. Networks just don't know what to do with quality.
  19. Yeah, that was a good role! I also mainly remember him as Major Nelson from "I Dream of Jeannie." Never watched "Dallas."
  20. I kind of thought Hagman had passed away a year or two ago.
  21. The TV show "Community." Now on the third season.
  22. I haven't read too many novels by him; that's too bad. On the other hand, as good as Childhood's End was, it's understandable. Actually, growing up I think there were times when I preferred his science fact writing. That's the way I felt about Asimov, believe it or not. Oh, I find that VERY believable. Asimov was always more convincing in the non-fiction category.
  23. Allen, you're like, totally cool 'n' shit. Keep it real. See ya. Lates.
