  1. Thank-you all! It was a good day.
  2. If you're scared of the Super Moon, aim Kryptonite rays at it.
  3. Criterion of Frankenheimer's "Seconds" coming out in August. Good news, that.
  4. Shocking, unexpected, and very saddening news. Chet Flippo just passed away, too; all of a sudden it seems like everybody is dying.
  5. Never smoked.
  6. Horrible news. Way too young. RIP
  7. The Terracotta Warriors exhibit a few weeks ago at the Asian Art Museum. And the Girl With the Pearl Earring exhibit at the De Young before that, and the Winogrand exhibit at the SFMOMA before that.
  8. I caught some of them. Ya got to hand it to TCM.
  9. I think I can recommend The Storm of War: A New History of the Second World War by Andrew Roberts. I'm about halfway through right now; a real page-turner; can't wait to see how it comes out.
  10. Happy belated Birthday wishes, Larry!
  11. I do hope I'm one of the Normal Deviates.
  12. I caught the first episode and quite liked it. The entire show is only supposed to be six episodes. More like a British show, in that respect, than an American one.
  13. I can smile in the morning...but pancakes make it easier.
  14. I'd have to say the same, though only up through season 3.
  15. Thursday, apparently. Not that it matters.
  16. I like Dave Kehr's writing a lot. Hoberman I used to read a lot back in the 80's when I used to read the Voice pretty regularly. Not a big fan of Rosenbaum, but I guess I'm not along in that.
  17. I love the Beatles, but this is, for the most part, a jazz forum.
  18. There's not a movie critic in history who I haven't disagreed with on plenty of occasions.
  19. Very, very sad news. He wrote engagingly on a variety of topics. RIP
  20. Soulstation, you've got two-dollar second-run movie theaters in your area? That's pretty awesome.
  21. Maybe he was getting tired of coloring it.
  22. There was a second season? Looking back, it seems like this was cancelled in about 5 minutes.
  23. I agree, his voice was remarkable. Loved his appearance on the original Star Trek.
  24. A masterpiece. It certainly is; and Guinness doing the eight roles is the least of it.
