  1. Check out the link for some nice general information. Actually, not a bad little preamp. In the past I've used the orginal version of this preamp along with an SM57 and consistently got very good results. Preamp Primer Re: Condensor Mics: AKG C1000's are excellent for the price. I own two myself. Great for acoustic instruments.
  2. Just picked this up today and have been browsing the disc in my car as I run errands. Did listen to "SSTH" all the way through and agree that Scofield burns white hot on this one. Real interesting arrangement too IMO.
  3. Tickets for this Saturday's Chicago gig at the Auditorium Theatre are $90. Bozzio, Vai, Brock, and other special guests are advertised on the bill. A little too steep for me. Not sure if this is the standard going price for the tour or not?
  4. Not to mention charging $90 a pop.
  5. Who are you ordering them through? I've been picking them up at my local Tower outlet for $12.99 or $13.99 a pop which isn't too bad. I just checked and CDU has Fania new releases for $11.99 each. edited to include CDU price
  6. Anyone familiar with the band "Bondage Fruit"? The one music sample I was able to find online is more dissonant and intense than Zappa, but still very reminiscient of his early 70's jazz-influenced work.
  7. Sorry to hear about this. Another true original gone. RIP
  8. What, no cowbell? Maybe that's in the next video.
  9. That's actually a pretty good album! Good version of Ice Cream Man.
  10. Yep. This was my introduction to the music. Probably still my favorite.
  11. I believe the DVD is from a show at the Park West in Chicago this last January. They were taping at that show.
  12. This one has been out since the early 90's on Rhino. I assume it's still available.
  13. He's pretty amazing now. Clapton just gives him more exposure. I think lessons from Ali Akbar Khan have influenced him more than touring with Clapton. Emphasis on the "performer" part. That said, I believe Clapton still has a few tricks up his sleeve.
  14. Just a random thought, more of a wild "hair" really. But seriously, I wonder how realistic a set featuring "fess" would be these days?
  15. Chris Stainton ain't no slouch. P.S. Go to see Eric, be utterly amazed by Derek (Sorry, had to get that in ) Chris Stainton is great! Clapton has some depth and maturity of playing that will do Derek good. imho g I agree. I think Derek will emerge from this tour as a better guitarist and performer due in no small part to his exposure to Clapton. Robert Cray who has been, and will continue to open shows on the latest tour could probably teach him a thing or two.

  17. Probably a stupid question.... But can use translate this to guitar? Or is this technique particular to the organ and the setting that you have referred to? P.S. I swear I've seen footage of Barney Kessel doing something similar, i.e. playing octaves with his 1st and 4th fingers and using his 2nd and 3rd to hit other notes. Presumably the 5th and 6th.
  18. It's sounds pretty cool but what is it?
  19. I've been picking up a number of these reissues over the last three months. Lot's of great stuff which is now newly available to us latin music neophytes.
  20. I'm not the one doing the digging.
  21. Prince learned a few things from these cats.... Ohio Players-Fire
