  1. Just received an email, effective Jan 1 2007 each disc will be $6.99 a pop.
  2. The Complete Pacific Jazz Recordings Of The Chico Hamilton Quintet
  3. FYI- My copy of the Dragon set came with duplicate copies of the material found on disc #1 and no material from disc #2. Anyone else have this issue?
  4. Just ordered. Thanks very much for the "heads up"
  5. This thread covers a lot of ground. Herbie Hancock: 1968- 1978 (The Funk Period)
  6. I noticed that too. I listen to this set quite a bit (more than I though I ever would). It's Uncle Lou! What's not to like?
  7. The "Green God" w/his 59' Les Paul. Albatross (pious bird of good omen) World Keeps Turning
  8. As a young kid my Dad made reel to reel tape compilations of jazz and a few other miscellaneous things. One of those tapes was labeled "Traffic, Beatles, and Hendrix." I was familiar with the Beatles and Hendrix, but Traffic was a mystery to me. Of course, I wasn't suppose to touch any of his reel to reel tapes but curiosity got the better of me. I threaded up that "puppy" and was soon listening to John Barleycorn.... I was hooked from the first downbeat of "Glad" and have been listening to them ever since. One of the very first songs I ever learned on guitar was "Medicated Goo." Traffic is comfort music to me. Agree regarding "Glad" as a great piece of soul jazz waiting to be rediscovered and covered. Always thought "Empty Pages" would make a great cover for a funky organ trio/soul jazz outfit. ahem!
  9. Welcome to "suckdom" Paul Allen!
  10. Not sure if this is the same guitar. Great picture though!
  11. 91.7% That's a pretty interesting test. I think I missed one because a noisey diesel truck went by my window at a less than opportune moment. I'll certainly take it though. After the first couple trials I closed my eyes and it became a lot easier.
  12. I really think Wayne Shorter's: Footprints Live is recorded exceptionally well. Plus, the nature of the music with all it's unexpected twists and turns really puts a system through it's paces.
  13. Is that software commercial-off-the-shelf or a custom application?
  14. Thanks for the feedback. One of my computers which I utilize as a digital music server is hooked up to a 52" HD display. This appears to be an interesting alternative to the itunes "visualizer" function which I've grown to pretty much hate at this point.
  15. The Complete Blue Note Donald Byrd/Pepper Adams Studio Sessions
  16. This is a pretty interesting idea. I would like to see this on a large screen. Light Paintings
  17. I would also recommend You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 2 (The Helsinki Concert) Also, check this out! Stockholm 1973
  18. The Blue Note Stanley Turrentine Quintet/Sextet Studio Sessions
  19. The Bears run defense has not been the same since they lost Mike Brown. I expect Rex Grossman the "blow up" 4 or 5 times this year. He's essentially a rookie with a gunsliger attitude, shit will happen. But they have given up way too many rushing yards the last few games. That's what really worries me.
  20. Dude, it's a must buy for the "Micro Cosmic Sound" alone.
  21. Mostly online including.... - CDU - YourMusic - Dusty Groove - Descarga - Bestprices.com
  22. I've been eyeing that Outlaw unit......for that same use among others......so you're happy with it? I'm VERY happy with my Model 950 processor for my video setup.... great flexibility (bass management options of pieces costing twice that of the Outlaw) and wonderful sonics! For my money the "best value" receiver on the market. Sonics are much better than you would expect for $600. Throw in the digital interfaces, the bass management, and a number of other thoughtful design features, and it's pretty much a no brainer. I've had mine for just about a year and continue the be amazed by it's performance. I have not used the phono section, however I've read, its more than serviceable. Only two slightly negative comments (1) Programming FM presets is awkward (I actually had to read the users manual). Not a big deal. (2) Increments on the volume control could be a bit finer (at least for my tastes). Once again, not a show stopper. I quickly got use to the difference between the Outlaw and my other units. I auditioned NAD receivers with my speakers during the buying process but ultimately decided to buy the Outlaw because of the digital interfaces and bass management features. It was a leap of faith since I was not able to audition the Outlaw. Given their reputation, and the glowing advanced reviews, I bought sight unseen and have never regretted my decision for one minute.
  23. Yeah, street date was 9/19.
  24. New Weather Report coming soon. Probably the boxset?
  25. Here's my setup which I'm very happy with: - Maxtor One Touch External HD (300GB, 16mb, 7200rpm) - Mac mini using itunes - Outlaw Audio Stereo Receiver RR2150 w/usb input - B&W DM602 S3 Speakers - Display 52" Mitsubishi HD TV (1900x1200) I just go right out of my Mac via usb into my receiver which has a better than average D/A convertor built right into it. I'm using the Apple lossless encoder although I have some material at lesser quality. I like the fact that I could very easily upgrade to a high quality D/A convertor at some point. Excluding the display (which I already had) this cost about $1900. A real nice user friendly solution.
