  1. I've been spinning material from the "Live Trane European Tours" set on and off for a couple weeks now. Right now listening to Burrell & Coltrane.
  2. That's a really good idea which seems to be catching on in these parts. I've gone to a number of "jazz vespers" services over the last 6 months. They have all been really well received. Saw Rich Corpolongo play at one of them, which was an unexpected treat.
  3. I've had this set for a few weeks now and I've listened to it at least three times. Personally, I find this to be some of the easiest electric miles to assimilate. I'm sure there's a lot more to be found with repeated listenings. However, I feel like I get where miles and the band are coming from (and totally approve BTW). For me this release lived up to all the hype.
  4. "Going To Town-Live At The Green Mill" available June 20th according to CDU.
  5. a beautiful stout. just a little sweeter than many.only 4 bottles per 6 pack, though. by the way, near chitown, have you tried bell's expedition, kalamazoo, or double cream stouts? I've had the Expedition Stout before and remember enjoying it very much. Really can't characterize it beyond that however. Bell's also makes a real tasty Cherry Stout. I find it to be a bit inconsistent, but none of it is bad. Not cheap though @ $9.99 for a "sixer" P.S. Actually, back in the day before the microbrew and beer craze, you could buy a true six-pack of Samuel Smiths for $5.99. Those were the days!
  6. The most recent edition of "Relix" magazine (the one with Zappa on the cover) has a decent article about the Zappa Plays Zappa Tour. Also, Gail talks about upcoming releases from the archive. She's whacked!
  7. Great beer. Their Lager is one of a kind. It has a slight butterscotch flavor imparted by the strain of yeast they use. Wonderful beer!
  8. Speaking of morning stouts, this one is delicious and helps make good pancake batter.
  9. A little more information regarding Joe's new live album care of CDU. 1. Lover Man 2. Corcovado 3. Green Dolphin Street 4. Child Is Born, A 5. Yesterdays 6. Night Has A Thousand Eyes, The Notes Personnel: Jim Plank, Joe Diorio, Bob Magnusson. Recording information: Blueport Sound, San Diego, California (1991).
  10. Enjoying one of these at the moment......
  11. 16 million fans can't be wrong about Rod, can they?
  12. Decided not to buy this. Just not enough material on it that interests me at the moment. From the little I've been able to gather, it looks to be very well done and certainly will raise the bar for instructional DVDs.
  13. Joe- Very nice. I played the non-cutaway version of that guitar (Newport?) about a year ago and remember liking it very much. Seems like a lot of guitar for the money. Congrats. on the purchase. Jim- "Seafoam Green" Surfs up bra! That's a seriously nice guitar. Hope you have many years of enjoyment with that baby. P.S. With all this guitar talk I can't help but think the scene from Wayne's World where Wayne goes to the guitar shop to admire that vintage white strat. "Oh yes, It will be mine someday...." Party on! P.P.S. No guitars for me lately, however I picked up a Vintage Proco Rat Distortion pedal for $20 bucks in a garage sale. It actually works! Had the woman throw in a "weed whacker" to seal the deal. I drive a hard bargain.
  14. Good Richard Tee on this one...
  15. Don't thank me, thank Mr. Martino.
  16. I have no idea about the state of his health or the details of his latest release. That said, I seem to remember that in the 2000/2001 timeframe he had bypass surgery or some other less invasive type procedure. My memory is pretty sketchy regarding this so take it for what it's worth. I do hope Joe is in good health. Maybe someone a little more in the know can chime in regarding these matters?
  17. Follow the link and scroll down a bit. Mactough
  18. Any more impressions on this instructional DVD? I have an opportunity to pick up a used copy for $100 and I'm still on the fence.
  19. Good news for Joe D. fans; his mid 70's recordings are being reissued. Follow the link below for further details. ejazznews P.S. Joe also has a new live album available for preorder at CDU.
  20. I think Musical Fidelity may have started a bit of the trend (at least in consumer audio) a few years ago with their TRI-VISTA product line.

How's the sound on this one? Is it serviceable? I remember seeing a disclaimer on the packaging.
