  1. I'm not quite sure I know what qualifies as a "standard." There are tunes that are recorded by others, but I don't think they would be classified as "standards." One example of this would be Joe Henderson's "Step Lightly." There are several versions recorded, but no one would recognize it in a jazz bar. Organissimo's got "Pumpkin Pie." That one should become a standard!
  2. Wes says it all (as usual). I'm listening to live "Stomp Yo Feets." Damn that Organissimo. Hope they release some of this stuff. Too damned good to waste.
  3. If I got in my car right now, I'd be a DWI candidate. Good thing I'm at home! (Listening to live Organissimo at Baker's Keyboard Lounge 10/29/05.) Dem boys are good!!!
  4. My favorite Woody is the Last of the line two-fer issued on 32 Jazz. It's a masterpiece.
  5. Nothing that bad (unless I just haven't realized it yet). It may have cost us a review, that's all. No biggie. FUCK 'em. You don't need 'em. I say we should show respect to all the labels. I don't think it's fair that O's future gets compromised by comments on the bulletin board. Can't there be a disclaimer where the band points out that opinions expressed on the BB don't necessarily reflect the band's views?
  6. My picks for the week: ATLANTA DALLAS CINCINNATI CAROLINA (tough game to pick) TAMPA BAY MINNESOTA NEW ENGLAND WASHINGTON TENNESSEE ST LOUIS JACKSONVILLE OAKLAND PHILADELPHIA SEATTLE NY JETS INDIANAPOLIS 43 POINTS Tough week to pick winners. Lots of tough games. BTW...Noj and Saint Vit both have 50 points for Monday's game. (Does anybody pay attention to those point spreads anyway?)
  7. What are the games?
  8. How about kneejerk thinking? After watching the first 10 minutes of the game, I realized that the only smiley for me is Indy is so much more advanced as a team than the Bengals. It could never be a contest. I think the Colts have a genuine chance of going unbeaten, except I suspect Jacksonville will beat them at home. I see them beating everyone else though. Seattle on the road will be tough, but it's hard to get a grasp as to how good Seattle is. They've fallen apart in the past. I have no doubts that Indianapolis will be the Super Bowl champion this year. I can console myself that the Patriots took care of them two years in a row when the Colts still had a good team. The sun has now set on the Patriot dynasty, but there's always next year...
  9. Did you paint that, Chuck? Not bad!
  10. If saying who you are was a criterion for posting, this board would have damn few members. ← Not unless you're prone to personally attack people as Clem tends to do. So long as his real identity is shadowed as it is, he can continue the immature attacks.
  11. ...as if he'd pay any attention to that. I just read the thread mentioned and I'm with Lowe on this one.
  12. I'm late as usual in getting my picks out. Have to fight my kid for computer time. ST LOUIS CAROLINA (tough game to pick. I'm going with the high-powered offense, but Chicago is no joke.) DALLAS CINCINNATI (Indy's first loss) JACKSONVILLE CLEVELAND (another tough game to pick)j NEW ENGLAND WASHINGTON NY GIANTS ATLANTA SEATTLE SAN DIEGO DENVER PITTSBURGH KANSAS CITY GREEN BAY 49 POINTS
  13. Seahawks are definitely looking good. I think the NFC in general has a lot more tough teams than usual. Aside from the obviously-loaded East division, Carolina looks like a Super Bowl contender; and Atlanta is no slouch.
  14. Paul, my dear friend, this is not the time to call me lazy! I'm bustin' my ass going to the gym 5 times a week as part of a personal commitment to health and weight loss, so being "lazy" is not part of my current repertoire. I just don't want to spend my weekends raking repeatedly. This is actually an excellent point. I furiously dismiss all female calls-to-work when they happen to get in the way of my workout regimine down in my basement. "Well how the heck do I have the energy to take out the trash, when I've been pumping iron down here??" Women just don't have any logic...
  15. Just had to laugh. This just sounds so true!
  16. Dust storms? Desert critters?
  17. I love the ESPN Jacked Up!! countdown.
  18. I rake em up every weekend. I do this: --for the exercise. --to forestall any spousal mumblings. --to make sure there's something on the street when the city sends their pickup squad. They hit my street twice over the course of the Fall. My neighbor has a large willow tree which dumps branches, leaves, squirrel nests, TOCJ cds (just kidding!) and what not on my back lawn. I just pick them up and place the heavier limbs over on his side, which by mutual agreement, is the thing to do. He's a cool guy, and I never bitch about the tree to him. It provides welcome shade during the Summer. (I'm going to have to email Mrs. FFA, and tell her to get that lazy hubby of hers...)
  19. Ed and SS1 tore up the competition with huge victories over the last couple weeks. They're starting to hit stride, while old Conn spirals downward. Better get my picking going good again.
  20. It's not over 'til it's over. You're with me at the bottom this week. ← So true.... I go to bed with the Eagles comfortably in charge and leading 20-7. WTF??? Some kind of curse or something? How could Donovan screw up the game like that. He's definitely one of the better qbs in the league. Sorry, Donovan, if I cursed you by banking the win before the game was over.
  21. I'm the only one picking Philly to win tonight's game? Maybe a clear second place for me this week?
  22. It's approaching halftime on tonight's game. I'm gonna have to shut the TV down for a few minutes while they play that horrible Tim McGraw tune.
  23. Best wait another 30-40 years when my surviving spouse sells off my collection.
