I really like Groove Holme's "Night Glider," "Spicy," "Hot Tat," "Blues All Day Long," "Misty," and "Blue Groove." "After Hours" is reallly good too.
Charles Earland's best cd is "Intensity." I really like "Front Burner" as a later effort as well.
Jack McDuff's collaboration with Fathead Newman called "Double barrelled Soul" is outstanding. It might be his best. Prestige/Fantasy has reissued a lot of good McDuff dates as well.
The two best Don Patterson's aside from the aforementioned, "Genius of the B-3" is "Dem New York Dues" and "Boppin' & Burnin'"
You can't miss out on Big John Patton either. Just get the Mosaic select along with "Got a Good thing Goin."
And how about Reuben Wilson and Lonnie Smith.
My favorite Lonnie Smith is "Move Your Hand." I also like "Think" and "Turning Point."
Wilson's "Love Bug" is a classic groove date.
Then there's Freddie Roach and Leon Spencer...
