  1. I love Volume 1....absolutely smokin'. Will get Volume 2 whenever I get the chance.
  2. Thanks Quincy. I visit this site often, but didn't realize that they had done a comparison of this movie.
  3. There seems to be over 10 different DVD versions of the classic George Romero film out there, and many, many opinons to go with each one. Does anyone know which version is the definitive version to get? I want the uncut, black and white original version with the best sound & picture. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I would if I had an unlimited income supply.
  5. Sopranos (1-5) Simpsons (3-5) Seinfeld (3-4) Orignal Transformers animated series (all of em) Chapelle's Show (1-2) Blue Planet: Seas of Life (BBC) (all of em)
  6. I'm officially a White Stripes fan! Had never heard them before, and a friend lent me "White Blood Cells". What a kick ass rock album.
  7. Have a great time! Its a really fun show. The new tunes on the new album are hot!
  8. I wonder if this thing with Borders is a national trend. All three Borders that I normally visit seem to have cut back on jazz. A shame. Good thing Jazz Record Mart and Dusty Groove are in the vicinity.
  9. I finally picked this one up and am enjoying the majority of the album. Some of the tracks I can see myself skipping on future listenings, but there is some really nice music on here. The core trio is becoming more and more powerful as time goes by. When the guitar works, it really works well.
  10. Yeah, no kidding!! I'm beginning to wonder if the blatent look of Gotham City as Chicago was deliberate.
  11. I mentioned this on the other board, and I hate being a buzzkill, but the filmmakers did WAY TOO LITTLE to make the setting of the film look like Gotham City. This movie, folks, is a Batman movie that takes place in Chicago, except with three "L" train tracks instead of just one, and a small ghetto CGI-ed into where Navy Pier would be. This was IMO the only real fault of the film, but its a BIG one when the viewer doesn't feel like they are in Gotham City. I envy those of you who didn't notice this, but when you live in a place all your life, its hard to not notice. The Sears Tower and the cars with Illinois license plates didn't help much either.
  12. I think that YaYa3 was more focused on jazz tunes, and was more of a co-led group. The Elastic Band is under Joshua Redman's leadership, and the music is significantly different.
  13. The new Elastic Band album is really good. Where as the first album was also good, it sounded at times like he wasn't too sure what to do with the band now that he had the creative control (unlike YaYa3, which was more of a Yahel disc). With this one, everything just sounds tighter. The beats are funky, the musicianship is top notch, and the songs contain lots of memorable melodies. A great one for summer.
  14. Cinnamon Toast Crunch
  15. I am completely blown away by this release. This is without a doubt my favorite release of the year so far and may very well be the best of 2005.

    BOBBY WATSON ?

Check out the disk by guitarist Mark Kleinhaut that came out last year called "Balance of Light". A beautiful disc with one of Bobby's best recorded performances IMO.
  17. I think the best one is "Live Art". A wide variety of tunes, plus some nice guest spots from Branford Marsalis & Chick Corea.
  18. I really like this one. In a sense it picks up where Blood Sutra left off, but more restrained and controlled. Great move switching drummers...the drummer from Blood Sutra was fantastic as well, but was a bit heavy handed, which served the music on that album well. But this album sounds more together, for lack of a better word. I need to listen to it more. Vijay Iyer proves that jazz is in good hands for the next generation.
  19. Same here.....the day it comes out, its mine.
  20. People usually post them when they are sent out via the e-mail list. Border's hasn't sent any out, therefore there isn't anything new.
  21. My favorite are the Transformers original animated series from Rhino. I lived and died to watch these cartoons as a child, and having them all on DVD is bliss.
  22. On my short list. Edit: Just found it at my local Best Buy (!) for a decent price. Looking forward to giving it a spin in the next couple days.
  23. I'm very interested to hear feedback about this one. I liked Bounce quite a bit, but have heard mixed reviews about Flow.
  24. There is a thread somewhere on this board about the 3 disc live album from SF Jazz Collective that you can order from the website. I believe the new release on Nonesuch is drawn from this 3 disc set. Very good music. Looking forward to hearing the new Elastic Band disc. I really enjoyed the last one, as well as the YaYa 3 disc.
  25. Very thoughtful post, LWayne. Seeing Bobby is always a delight.
