  1. Damn...wish I'd thought of that!
  2. Charles Krauthammer Pat Bucanan Fred Barnes
  3. Captain Kangaroo Greg Bear Christian Wolff
  4. Arnold Palmer Laura Palmer Bob
  5. There's only a limited selection of Sirius stations on Dish Network, I guess, because they only have the two jazz stations that I can see. Okay, the one and then the smooth jazz...
  6. I know this sounds shallow, but no matter what she was doing, whenever I saw her, I fell in love...
  7. Jeez, Niko; don't give this stuff away for free...write a book!
  8. If they fuck with my reggae, I will not be happy.
  9. Sounds like something to check out, but I'm not sure I want to hear about any of Allen's one night stands...
  10. Personally, I think she has more problems than racism. She seems to qualify as a really good all-around asshole...
  11. fasstrack, the woman was obviously an asshole. Anyone who lectures a kid like that using a person who is present as an example is just a complete asshole, even if you had been guilty of whatever act she thought you were guilty of. (Sounds like to me that you were guilty of the incredibly heinous act of not realizing that, as a service provider, you are obligated to kiss ass and take any shit offered; I have that experience about once a month on my present job, but I've had worse jobs, too. ) Anyway, as far as her 'playing the race card', just remember that it's hard for a person to admit to themselves that they're being an asshole, particularly when they are regularly guilty of that (as, I'm willing to bet, this woman is), so the obvious action is to blame someone else. We all do it; some just do it all the time. At this point, "you're doing it because I'm black" has about as much content as "the moon is made of green cheese". In other words, don't let it worry you, even though, as a good person, you can't help but let it worry you...
  12. Damn. I missed the "Album Cover Showing" fad, and now all I can think of is "Some Other Stuff", which is only an album title, not a song title. I'm screwed...
  13. That's not a fair comparison; Kate Bush is the real deal!
  14. The link doesn't work, and I'm too lazy to cut and paste.
  15. Yep. Once the turducken thread shows up, you know it's time to winterize everything! Somehow I missed it last year; I'll be picturing a generic folk singer warbling Jim's "I gave my love a turducken" lyrics all day...

I agree completely. But, as an eight year old in the fall of '66, you can imagine what I remember best...
  17. I know your post says he appeared in Stalag 17, GA, but I just discovered today who he played: Cookie, the sidekick and narrarator. Always nice to have a face to go with the name!
  18. I must admit, I consider watching poker to be a sure sign that the end is near. I can understand watching baseball, or basketball, but poker and sex are things you do, not things you watch...
  19. According to Wikipedia he passed away in 2005, stopped writing in 1996 or so. Sounds like a "no"... I never remember him as being 'big', just as 'up and coming'. Having read the book now, I'd say he's very good, but not great. Certainly worth reading.
  20. Interesting. Seems like this thread has been around forever but I never visited before. I don't really listen to Fripp, although after going through the thread, I remember my vinyls of I Advanced Masked and Evening Star. Even those two I bought because of Eno in the latter and curiosity about Summers in the former. But I heard 21st Century Schizoid Man last night, and two things occurred to me: I must have had at least some taste at twelve; that was incredible. And, I'm not sure why I don't really listen to Fripp; you think that would have pulled me in deeper!
  21. Don't be yankin' my antlers!
  22. You know, I feel like I ought to read that, just as a thankyou to Kurt Vonnegut...
  23. Started F.M. Busby's The Breeds of Man. I've been carting this book around for about fifteen years now; Busby was someone I wanted to try at some point in life and I just never got around to it. I remember him being fairly highly touted back at that time, but I'm completely out of touch with the SF world of today; anyone know if he's still read? Or still writes?
  24. Yes! Plus I'm just not that into fish...
