  2. I agree. I thought they really stunk up the album as well. But then my 'cool' older (he'd have been 16 then) cousin thought they were okay, so my opinion didn't swing much weight then. If I read his reaction to the arrival of "Happy Days" correctly, he came around to my thinking eventually...
  3. Well, I doubt that. My guess is that they're just retired average joes now.
  4. Nah, that can't be it; I'm going through the same thing, starting to rediscover the music of that time. After all, we're so far apart in age; you were only 11, I was already 11 and a half. So it can't possibly be a midlife crisis... I remember the second Atlanta International Pop Festival was the next summer, and I was deluded enough to think I could somehow make it. My twelve year old ass was put straight pretty damned fast...
  5. I like Dr Pepper more than I like Guns and Roses. Actually, there's a lot of things I like more than that I'm trying to think which would be worse to endure. At least vomiting after drinking the Dr. Pepper would accomplish something...
  6. That's gotta bring out the best in any artist...
  7. No disagreement there! I certainly bought a few; I just tend not to look at the cover while listening...
  8. Definitely one of my favorites! The Penultimate Truth isn't quite as early as Time Out of Joint, but it's close and recommended, at least by me.
  9. Thanks for the link. I read another column yesterday or the day before (Freidman maybe?) suggesting that bankruptcy was indeed the proper way to go. Frankly, if it comes down to taxpayer's being handed the bag, I can't argue against that.

  11. I had a feeling it was getting pretty low somewhere when I saw $2.23 today in town. Must be, what, $ .79 in New Jersey?
  12. I assume you mean in jazz; rock is full of this sort of thing...
  13. If 32Jazz CDs aren't rare, they should be with those covers...

  15. Oh, fuck off. I was there; you weren't. It sucked then and it sucks now, and I certainly don't need any critic to tell me that it was crap. One spin on the turntable was enough.

  17. Sounds like Ralphie's had it with you nodding off in the easy chair rather than giving him a walk...

  19. No, there is another path: I just don't care. I would agree back when Roger Moore replaced Connery that I had to accept the fact that Connery was gone and Moore was the new Bond. But as I quit watching Bond movies after Live and Let Die, "the new Bond" just doesn't have any involvement with my reality at all. It's just another action movie to skip for me. Mind you, I'm not criticizing the new movie at all; I have no information about it and won't see it. It might be great; it just has no relevance for me. If I get some desire to watch a Bond flick, I'll grab a Connery.
  20. They made Togo into an island?? Must have been quite a feat of engineering. Well, really it's a continent. MG Alright, you two; quit making fun of us 'mericans!
  21. I agree with ejp626, in spite of his funny name. I don't have to accept it at all. And don't. But then, I never accepted Roger Moore as Bond, so it's not like they're losing anything with me...
