  1. Oh wait; now there's one there. How did that happen?
  2. Fireball XL5 was the only one I saw as a kid, so naturally, it's the only one that makes sense to me...
  3. I'll be glad to pull out a Tjader disc or three on May 5th...but I hope you don't expect me to wait that long. Come to think of it, Amazonas is still in the 'just played' pile next to the disc player...
  4. Did she blame the band for the kidnapping?
  5. Cornelius, it'll save a lot of time and bandwidth if you just assume that your post follows each of Aric's posts....
  6. Interesting stuff.
  7. I definitely reccommend checking your reports. As Uncle Skid notes, those of us on the west coast already have this option, and I checked mine. I was shocked to discover that I actually had an unpaid bill on my record. Seems that in the last apartment I rented before moving in with Barb, the landlord neglected to put the gas/electricity back in his name after I moved out as he assured me he would. My mistake for trusting the scumsucking pig. So I've had this bill for $92 for power two months after I left the place on my record for years. Great. Oh well; it's taken care of now, and I guess I needed another lesson in not trusting assholes, so alls well now...
  8. Personally, I don't see that listening to anything and everything that comes down the pike is either admirable or wise. There's being openminded, and there's being vacant. From a distance, they seem pretty close. Mind you, I'm not saying that whatever music I don't like is "bad"; I only like circular logic in political discussions. But I don't feel any need to listen to every 'mini-genre' to the point of familiarity before deciding whether or not I'm interested. It's a good thing, too; there's just not that much time in life.
  9. What's wrong with recognizing what you don't like?? Because it's dangerous! Um...your head might explode or something, I guess...
  10. Don't look at me; I collect used postage stamps...can you imagine anything more worthless than that?
  11. Damn it, I meant to listen to this live this week! Oh well; back to the archives Monday....
  12. No it's a guy who openly traded CDRs on organissimo. Jazzmoose as the *straight man*? I've now seen it all! Well, he lives in San Fran, so can he really be the straight man? Going for the Maltz Memorial Posting Award I see...
  13. No it's a guy who openly traded CDRs on organissimo. Fry the sonofabitch!!!
  14. I assume this is the courthouse gunman?
  15. Okay, maybe I should go change my answer to Hardbopjazz's "How do you feel when you start a thread" thread...
  16. etherbored, I'd say the comments of that review were accurate in ways, but on the otherhand I don't see them as negatives, so apparently the reviewer is coming from a far different point than I. I've listened to this one several times now, and there's no denial that it is heavily influenced by old Metheny themes, but I think it sounds great. Alexander, as far as recommendations, I'd have to split mine into two directions. For Pat Metheny, I'd go with the Trio 99-00 recording, or the live version if you feel like springing for a 2 cd set. For the Pat Metheny Group, I guess I'd go with Offramp or Secret Story, although my personal favorite is As Falls Witchita, So Falls Witchita Falls. If you're the type that often finds himself saying, of this music or that, "that's not jazz", stick with the trio stuff...
  17. Gave this one it's 'second listen' yesterday, and it's definitely a keeper!
  18. Very. This "method jazz" thing seems a bit confusing to me...
  19. I'm talking primarily to those who grew up with rock and found jazz later as I did. I guess the classic example of what I mean is hearing Song for My Father start and your brain gets ready for some Steely Dan. I can deal with that; it's so obvious, and I've finally heard the Silver tune enough that my brain doesn't really know what's about to happen... But the one that always gets mixed up in my head is Nat Adderly's Work Song. Whenever it comes on the radio, or even when I play it at home, if I get even slightly distracted I have a tendency to start singing Locomotive Breath. The annoying thing, of course, is that it's obvious that what my brain considers "the" version is the ripped off one... I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, either with this song or other songs.
  20. Like Kevin says, why not just wait until it's reissued? A little patience saves a lot of money...
  21. When it comes to encouraging stalking and dangerous internet behavior, in all honesty, I'd be more concerned with posting pictures of my kids and/or loved ones on the net than I would be with this. It's a scary world out there...
  22. Well....I'll go along with the first three words, anyway!
  23. No effin way...Chaney wasn't making this up???
  24. That's the most amazing thing I've ever read on this board. Well, maybe not, but you have to admit that it's uh...'up there'...
