  2. I think I might want this one. I don't know if I can get it when it comes out, but I'd like to.
  3. Thanks for the review. I wish I could have made it.
  4. Carlos should be nervous.
  5. thoughts on Pictures at an Exhibition transcriptions for guitar and a few examples.
  6. Sounds like an experience of a lifetime. It's gotta be cool to meet the English rock stars inside the legendary Garden or anywhere, even.
  7. They were planning this...bastards!
  8. Bought my copy locally today and cancelled my Amazon pre-order. Listening now!
  9. I guess the ZFT has that sorted out. Either they have the right or a legal team powerful enough to fight it.
  10. remaster...sounds interesting. looking forward to reviews.

    Paul Motian

I think I don't have one of the albums in the box, so I didn't run out and buy it. But I really like the titles I do have.

    Bill Frisell

I heard that trio with Barron and Carter at the Knit...not what I expected, but I liked it. I remember it sounded like Stuff from Miles in the Sky. The Motian trio is the best...I heard those guys at the Village Vanguard a few times. There's a DVD of solo guitar that I really like, I'd like to hear more like that. This NPR Tiny Desk video should be an official release.
  13. Steely Dan is exactly what I was thinking of when I heard Feet First.
  14. I'm listening to Street of Dreams again this morning. The quiet stuff is nice, the big horns overbearing and the technology mostly sounds dated.
  15. I was just getting into jazz, so I listened to a lot of electric jazz. I certainly didn't think of it as fusion. Fusion to me was Holdsworth and Mahavishnu, Lyle came from ECM land where most everything was low key like Bright Size Life.
  16. I love Lyle's first solo album and also Later That Evening. It's too bad he didn't record more outside of the PMG. A reunion with Bill Frisell would be nice.
  17. It is a beautiful tune. I have the transcription book, but never got into it. They say it's tuned down 1/2 step.
  18. Ha! Ok, yeah....the beginning of the album is heavenly.
  19. Really? Rejoicing is a bit of lopsided album for me. I don't really need to hear his synth after a perfect set of straight ahead.
  20. Without even hearing it, I think fans of his more accessible PMG material will love it. This one isn't gonna sound like Painkiller. I was just talking to *my* friend with a Tzadik connection and he says he first heard about this three years ago, so it's been in the works for a while.
  21. Lyle made a high profile appearance at TED in 2011 playing music using algorhythms, using a program he designed. It was a very unique set of music. He has interests in architecture, programming, mathematics and pool. He's also been playing with his quintet over the past year with his neice on vocals. He's supposed to make a new album, which I'm sure will be under the Metheny Group Productions banner and released on Nonesuch most likely if it happens. Thanks. For someone so important, he's living in obscurity.
  22. So what is Lyle Mays up to then? What ever happened to Lyle Mays?
