  1. I stop by when I'm in the neighborhood. I was just there a few weeks ago.
  2. All are first recordings...{shrug}...I'm not familiar with them.
  3. Yeah, but not a bad idea to question it.
  4. There's a whole bunch of piano reductions by the composer of Stravinsky's music. I love 'em all! There's even a special version of The Firebird for soloist.
  5. listen here. Thanks for this. Excellent stuff. The link still works, digging it now!
  6. I heard there's a new album coming out on Tzadik: (clears throat) I don't think Terry is Jewish. But this sounds very interesting, I was told it will be released at the end of this month, Jan. 2012. There's also a Terry & Gyan Riley album that came out last year, but I never got my ears on a copy.
  7. Placed an order at Downtown Music Gallery for the Cecil box. Don't own any of them now...going on a Cecil Taylor binge anyway.
  8. I just go for the ECM forum.
  9. The some of the people I work with are like this: assholes, because they think they can get away with it. And end up with a version of PTS, I'm pissed off for days.
  10. thnx joel.
  11. Been listening for at least 30 years, will continue to do so when I'm in the area. :eye:
  12. Thanks for the thoughts folks! I did a bunch of driving for work, about 300 miles over two trips. When no one was in the car, I listened to a bunch of Cecil Taylor and when I'd had a enough of him, the radio. In between, I saw my parents for lunch. The celebration will continue as the week unfolds.
  13. A few days after the memorial the played several hours of convert tapes from their vaults. The ones with Cecil Taylor were beyond words. On the Jan 2 evening Jazz program I heard a bunch of unreleased archival recordings.
  14. When I first read this thread, I thought 7/4 was having trouble with his sums. I didn't realize it was eight years old until you pointed it out. Yikes. I realized that since I started the thread I could correct that...so I just did.
  15. "With the news that Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan--the “IRON MAN” of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery." http://www.iommi.com/index.php?story=151
  16. 68.
  17. That would possibly be the thermistor failing ! Happened to me last year - and it was a good German unit (Miele) too. Thermistor changeout sorted it out. or maybe the flux capacitor.
  18. That would be worth the price of admission as I've yet to hear Wayne speak after seeing him several times.
  19. my main concern is getting a box that I already own part or most of.
  20. What an amazing achievement! I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it.
  21. He's said he's the first fusion guitarist.
  22. At least Larry's going to say it was him.
