  1. I think it's great, I heard this band play here in NJ just before this show. The last time I heard El Bfefck play, I think. No bass player...it's interesting how he's had a bunch of different line ups in the past 12 years and keeps releasing live albums to document them. Latest news, is his new trio with Rhonda Smith and drummer Veronica Bellino. I don't know too much more and who knows if it'll last.
  2. Mahavishnu Orchestra - Meeting Of The Spirits/You Know You Know
  3. too bad this version of the band didn't last long: Mahavishnu Orchestra - Miles Out Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Worlds Pts. 1 & 2 they have embedding turned off.
  4. I'd have hoped for a good quality DVD of one of their televised performances, like Don Kirschner's In Concert. It would be nice...the boots are out there.
  5. Jeff Beck - Live at B.B. King Blues Club This has always elusive for me, it was mail order only, then later as an expensive import only...suddenly it shows up in the store as a domestic release a few days ago. Terry Bozzio on drums, I think. Finally.
  6. After 40 Years, The Mahavishnu Orchestra Looks Back

  8. The almighty buck takes a front seat again I see. If you're gonna take a stand on something that's as good as anything else, I suppose. WTF?
  9. This may classify as some more internet forum gobbledygook, but where's your THIRD 'quick and unnecessary' point?
  10. But they probably won't. No kiddin'.
  11. Listening now, a gift from a friend. that's one sturdy cover!
  12. Academic sales for school libraries. They know it's a solid book and know folks will pay top dollar for this important book. I read the first chapter last night and it is the real deal, top notch musicology. I'll be digging into it more later today.
  13. I think that's about what I paid for it four years ago or so.
  14. I guess the NY Times review helped a bit. I should have a copy tomorrow.
  15. This one looks to have gone OOP already. That's a pity. Unlike most of these boutique boxes this one strikes me as one that deserves a permanent availability. Price has already more than doubled Good thing I was looking for these albums when it came out!
  16. Michael Schäffer - French Baroque Lute Suites 1. Du Fault (died before 1682): Suite in G minor. 2. Jacques Gallot (died circa 1690): Suite in D minor. 3. Esaias Reusner (junior) (1636 - 1679): Suite in A minor. 4. Johann Gottfried Conradi (died 1699): Suite in A major. Interesting, but not as crazy about this as Bach or Dowland. No one else around here shares my current enthusiasm for this stuff, but maybe later they will.
  17. I love CDs. They sound so much better than a MP3.
  18. John Dowland - Complete Lute Works, Vol. 1 & 2. Paul O'Dette, lute. O'Dette was highly recommended to be by friends. 7/4 approves too. I just wanted to check out some Dowland.
  19. Just doesn't sound like a money maker...Ascension?
  20. I was listening to disc one this morning...heavy breather.
