  1. Thanks 7/4! Man, we had some good times here. I'm sorry to hear you've had hard times too. I've been told that what doesn't kill me will make me stronger, but I've found that it has just made this ol' cat mangy. lol I hear ya man. Back then I had lot's of spare time and made 2-3 times what I make now, now I work 10 times as hard. On the plus side, I can post from anywhere I can use my phone now. Life in paradise is grand.
  2. Welcome back! (You aren't the only one who got chewed up by life)
  3. For Whitney Houston, A Home She Never Called Home .
  4. There won't be any recovery around here. She's spending eternity at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ, just six miles from my apt. This just in...Whitney Houston is still dead.
  5. That's exactly what I thought.
  6. I now have the other three volumes and I'm just starting to get into them. I love this stuff.
  7. Tough darts - may be regional, I've heard it before.
  8. I can't speak for the packaging but I'm very excited about these reissues, some I've never seen on cd. Amazon.com says they are remastered recordings on the Verve Select label. Some of the titles: SUNSHIP LIVE AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD AGAIN EXPRESSION COSMIC MUSIC INFINITY OM CONCERT IN JAPAN TRANSITION (which still seems to have "WELCOME" listed as "DEAR LORD") COSMIC MUSIC is about 24 minutes longer than the old release and Expression appears to be missing the bonus cut "NUMBER ONE". Needless to say, some of this is confusing. They were on shelves when I was at J&R yesterday afternoon. I didn't have time to take a close look at them.
  9. Now the word is Xanax and booze, lying face down in the tub. Not a pretty thought, if it's true.
  10. I'm not much of a fan, but the disease is cunning, baffling and powerful. I guess she slipped, I hope for her family and loved ones that she died of more natural causes than some kind of overdose. Remember how the family of Amy Winehouse insisted that she was clean until the coroners report let the world know she drank herself to death?
  11. I love what I've heard, but haven't been listening lately. And I have a pile of CDs by him. It's a shame he doesn't devote more time to his own work these days. I tried to copy all the relevant posts from the listening to... thread, but I'm too lazy to work out why I can't have it all in one post. Too much cultural baggage for me. I'll have to listen to everything I have again soon. That's a perfect way to describe it.
  12. I just picked up a copy of the Lester Bowie box.
  13. I hear 1+1 as quiet chamber music, more along the lines of classical music. Maybe if it came out on ECM it would have made more of an impact.
  14. Are you talking about 1+1? I love that album.
  15. Yez...I would think that's a dumb move. I'd rather back up in house, or at least locally for mobile machines.
  16. He'll help you with your back problems.....for a price.
  17. On that note, I'm certain that most of the ESP catalogue sucks, and that many of all y'all pretend to like it (could it ever possibly be likable, after all?) because it's cool to be different. Ya know? I like both. What's wrong with me? I don't feel guilty.
  18. Cecil box has arrived! I'm crazy about it. Woo-hoo!
  19. I heard a bit of it, I was busy working. I liked that version of Something's Coming from West Side Story. .
  20. I was thinking of Evan Parker.
  21. Miles replacing Mark Isham in David Torn's Cloud About Mercury band.
  22. That would have been twisted! Yes, it probably have pissed Miles off. But ha!
  23. oh I'll get it, wouldn't want a gap in my Mode collection + I'm not familiar with these. I wasn't paying attention, I didn't know it was out.
