  3. It's great to hear you're doing better. One day at a time and before you know it, it'll be history. .
  4. You just don't know for sure until you get test results. .
  5. Yes.
  6. I'm not too happy either. I guess if I had a bit of time on my hands, I could take the jewel case apart and throw the little fuckers out. .
  7. I usually just spin an entire CD. I've tried using the shuffle on a MP3 player, but there's so much material on the player, it never ends. .
  8. Me too. My neighbor died a few weeks ago after his body rejected a kidney transplant. .
  9. Maybe Liz Taylor was there too. .
  10. Let's try to imagine a dinner party with Herb Alpert and Quincy Jones. Lani Hall must have been there. Who else? Michael Jackson.
  11. Hang in there and I wish you the best. After I had some major surgery on my left leg 13 years ago (I had an aneurysm in my thigh bone), they put a screen in my Vena Cava to catch clots. .
  12. Advertising dollars. Is that a joke or do you mean that reviewers are really under economic pressure to give everyone they review a pass in these ezines? B/c if that's the case it was be almost equal to payola. AAJ pays? News to me. There are probably less nefarious reasons why the level of music journalism there is generally so terrible (with a few exceptions). It must be the free CDs. Gotta support the habit, you know.

B/c if that's the case it was be almost equal to payola. Did anyone else notice that particulary in All About Jazz the reviews all seem friendly to the point of approaching sugar-coated? There are scores of CDs reviewed every month. How can all these people be so great? No disrespect to my fellow musicians, but it makes you wonder....... I'm not joking, but I'm also not sure...I never had a Jazz magazine as a customer. Guitar magazines, yes.
  14. Not always. It can be a publication's policy. Maybe...I was in the magazine business for 18-19 years. The publication's policy could be...money makes it or breaks it. Try counting how many pages are covered with ads, check what percentage of the book is advertising.
  15. NY Times obit. .

His web site sez he needed surgery, sounds like he's in a bit worse shape than I was! .

What a coincidence, I did that 12 weeks ago...hurts like a bitch. Someone else had to feed me for 6 days. I wore a splint on my left arm for 11 days. Three weeks or so until I could drive. I hope he's in better shape than I was. Get well soon Joe! .
  18. There was less work getting done too - boink! .
  19. Ooh! Data entry babes! .
  20. I didn't realize that was the same place! They have modern classical music there too...Xenakis! Minimalists! I went to the Gate a few times...they had some free concerts there as part of the Village Jazz Festival. I wonder if I still have the t shirts.
