When it comes to certain Japanese CDs, it has quirks. It will upload basic information as artist, title and name of song but not the album cover or the length of the songs. Of course, you can fix that yourself but it’s a bit more time consuming. Right now, we all have a lot of time You have a free trial period of seven days. After that, payment kicks in unless you terminate. It’s $15 per year, which seems reasonable.

You can use barcode entry in Discogs. I looked at Collectorz and what I like is that you it can scan a barcode. You can’t do that with Discogs. I may gave it a try.

I catalogue all my CDs alphabetically in a Word document, except for Mosaics and box sets. I started doing this because I wound up buying some duplicates. I don’t rip my albums to iTunes or any other online medium; I prefer the hard stuff. I use Discogs for my rock collection, as it’s infinitely smaller (only about 300 CDs and LPs) than my Jazz collection . It was a little time consuming when I first did it but found it useful. If they don’t have a particular version, you can input your own; I’ve done this on a couple of occasions.

I try to avoid watching the broadcast networks as much as possible and rely on the print media. Started watching the French series Resistance on PBS.

COVID-19 2.0: No Politics edition
Brad replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Here’s the article in the Times, Traffic and Pollution Plummet as U.S. Cities Shut Down for Coronavirus About a month ago I had read that China’s pollution problem had improved for the very same reason. The crisis is also straining the sewage system because people are throwing wipes, tissues and towels down the toilet. From the Times: “As Americans clean and sterilize countertops, doorknobs, faucets and other frequently touched surfaces in their homes, many people are then tossing disinfectant wipes, paper towels and other paper products into the toilet. The result has been a surge in backed-up sewer lines and overflowing toilets, say plumbers and public officials, who have pleaded with people to spare the nation’s pipes from further strain. Most urban sewage systems were not designed to accommodate disinfectant wipes and paper towels, which do not break down easily, officials say. Many say the problem has been compounded by the dearth of toilet paper on store shelves, which is leading some to use paper towels, napkins or baby wipes instead.” If you have a septic system, this is a complete no no and they are expensive to replace, speaking from personal experience. -

The only good news is that pollution levels have dropped globally but not enough to make a significant difference. Nonetheless, any drop, however temporary, can’t be a bad thing. -

Our county, Morris County, is in the mild band. As of yesterday, we had 35 cases, better than the more urbanized parts of NJ. -

It probably won’t.

RIP to the only Kenny Rogers I’m aware of (other than the pitcher).

I finished reading Home but found it a bit unsatisfying. It seemed to build a crescendo and then dissipates. One reviewer said it seemed that Morrison got bored with it and brought it to a swift conclusion.

I watched one of those “Rock Legends” programs about the Monkees today. A great watch.
