I'm guessing our children will sell our collections for next to nothing, assuming they have any value, or toss them. I'd guess the latter.

Play ball! 2019 MLB season thread

Looks the NL WC is going down to the wire. Mets and Phils are 2 behind Cubs and Brewers. Mets and Brewers have tough series against LA and Saint Louis, respectively, while Cubs have the Bucs. Phillies oddly have the night off but then face Boston. Phillies have a tough schedule the rest of the way. Brewers after this weekend have an easy one whereas Cubs need to play Cardinals 6 times. After this weekend, the Mets schedule let’s up. If I had to handicap the rest of the way, my choice would be Brewers for the WC, followed by Mets, Cubs and Phils. Yelich’s loss is the wild card, so to speak. -
A few months ago, I listed here about 60 or so CDs that I wanted to sell. A few sold (about 25% I estimate). I listed a couple on eBay. They eventually sold but for small money. When you factor in eBay’s and PayPal’s fees and unrecovered shipping expenses, it’s not really worth it. I eventually sold the remainder to Princeton Record Exchange. I didn’t calculate what I was receiving per cd but it wasn’t much; they don’t jack up the prices when they resell since they’re trying to move them too. I received a little more because I took the proceeds in store credit Since used LPs seem more expensive these days, they may do better. Coincidentally, I’m going to be in Chicago next week and if I have time may go to DG.

RIP. The kind of cancer he had is hard to beat.

Not buying a car unless it has one, even as an option, which I realize is getting harder to do.

Pollack is one of the reasons Amazing Grace hasn't made it to the big screen until now. He neglected to bring clapper boards -- necessary to synchronize sound and picture -- to the filming so the film basically sat in the can until producer Alan Elliott, through the use of digital technology, managed to sync up the sound and film in 2010. The other principal reason was Aretha herself but after she died her executor cut a deal with Elliott so the film could come out.

A crazy man, who had it in for the Mets for whom he was head of player development. He was probably upset that the Mets didn’t hire him as Manager when Gil died. Not doing so was obviously a mistake. -

You may not have an app but may have looked at it once. With a lot of sites, if you look at something, it will show up in ads on sites you look at. Maybe some ad blocker could help.

Lon, I will take the Road Trips, Volume 3, Number 1, if it’s still available.

I would have added “End of story.”

Our library stopped the used book sales they ran. Too many unsold items, a lot of which were, well, garbage.
-
Can you blame them?

I live in a small town and our library, which is not bad, does get in new CDs although nothing that appeals to me. They have a decent collection of CDs in all genres and I sometimes borrow them to copy onto my online library. They are also adding books but are now trying to sell some of their books that people have donated. The trend seems to be reversing on book stores (including used ones) and the record store in my town recently re-opened after having closed about five years ago so I think they’re back on the upswing. The record store constantly has new lps and CDs (used, of course) so they are being recycled.

I only know their two hits, Red Rubber Ball and Turn Down Day, which were great songs. Now listening to Paul Butterfield’s Better Days. -
From that Hoffman thread, it doesn’t sound like the rock fans are happy with CF.
