The SEC has sued Tesla, seeking to have Musk removed as CEO. Their shares plunged 13%. Ouch! -
Whole batch of Mosaic Selects and Singles running low

That's completely true about it never having been perfect. If it wasn't perfect then, it won't be perfect now. You have to take how it is, warts and all. -

If you have all the music on LPs and don’t wish to buy the Mosaic that makes sense. However, if a person doesn’t have the music, I don’t understand— and have understood— the attitude that they won’t buy the music if it doesn’t have pristine sound. Is it better to have the music without pristine sound or not have the music at all? I think the former. -
Maybe Scott is a Bill Barron fan.

Yes, he’s still there; saw him there at the open house, and the emails from Mosaic about this or that set come from him and Scott.

£15 is hard to beat. Fantastic deal. The Dial set is a terrific set and I love all the alternate takes, although I understand that’s not everybody’s thing. -

I love solo piano sessions. This is part of reissues entitled Chiaroscuro Jazz Classics that I discovered through CD Japan. There are about 15 of them. If anyone is interested, search Cdsol-45446 through cdsol-45460.

Any good starter compilations of Thelonious Monk? (on CD)
Brad replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Discography
I see. Perhaps he’s not into having a lot of CDs and wants to be careful so he doesn’t have clutter. In addition, as far as Miles (or any prolific artist) goes, choosing what music you may want to listen to next can be daunting. -

Maybe it would make more sense to give him the name of three or four songs he could check out on Pandora or YouTube. -
MLB 2018: let the games begin!

They also play the Astros this weekend. The Mets will still hold the modern record for most losses, 120, regardless. -

The Os are 59.5 GB behind the Red Sox. They are close to the 62 Mets (60.5). I believe that is the most since that Met team. -

I think this is right but maybe he could also start off with the BN CDs and see if he likes those. -
Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?
Brad replied to Soulstation1's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Thanks for the additional links but maybe it’s a case that these songs don’t translate that well into a jazz format in that the artists are playing them more or less straight up. Sorry if I hijacked the thread. Maybe there should be a separate thread on the topic, rock songs played by jazz artists. -

Thanks for the pontificating and letting me know what I think. God, I feel so better already I listened to both the Rich version (again) and Basie's, and I marginally prefer the latter, which leads me to the conclusion that Beatle tunes may work better in small settings. I listened to the Organissimo album the other day and it's a terrific album. It has soul that the others don't, all in my opinion, of course. By the way, fwiw, my original question was more on the rhetorical side. -

That's pretty awful stuff, but it's Jackie and Roy. The Liebman cut wasn't bad; it has feeling Try to deflect all you want but I guess that wasn't sufficient; you had to throw in a sexist comment. Whatever works for you. You love Buddy, good for you. That Norwegian Wood version is terrible, no matter how you cut it. -
This is a terrific date. I played it numerous times. My only regret was that it was the only date they recorded. However, there are quite a few videos on YouTube.

There’s something about Buddy Rich that is so uncool and square playing a song like Norwegian Wood. They just don’t go together. Like I said, a travesty. -
