  1. The following is a very interesting article by Simon Spillett about Booker Ervin that has been essentially reproduced in Jazz Profiles. According to Steven Cerra, the essay appeared in the box set on Acrobat, Booker Ervin: The Good Book. This is part 1. I will post part 2 when it appears in Jazz Profiles. Booker Ervin
  2. Rethinking my position, if you like the music, no length is too long.

    Art imitates Art?
  4. I don’t really agree that they’ve run out of ideas but getting the rights may be challenging, not to mention finding a set that will be a financial success.
  5. As Felser points out, Lebron has had some lesser players around him (except in Miami). That’s why I think it’s remarkable what he’s done this year. I thought they were going out in the first round.
  6. It should be a very interesting series; I’m sure the Astros would like a little payback.
  7. Did you read the first one? Of the three books in the Liberation Trilogy, that was the best one, in my opinion.
  8. I don’t know if you can compare them because they’re different eras.
  9. Eight consecutive finals by Lebron is an amazing accomplishment.
  10. Unsold inventory increases overhead costs and thus affects the bottom line and as Lyin' Wolf observes, affects liquidity.
  11. Someone must handle legal matters for them.
  12. By herself or with others? Did she say anything?
  13. Great idea on the Vanguard. I found this on the web, although I’m sure there’s a lot more. https://www.google.com/amp/s/jazzlives.wordpress.com/2009/11/12/the-vanguard-sessions/amp/
  14. We will know by tomorrow night
  15. I was one of those too but I've grudgingly come to realize he's the real thing. Those two throws yesterday were impressive. While I think Stanton's year last year was an anomaly, time will show that Judge's probably wasn't.
  16. That's one of those statistics which seem meaningless to me. What is the significance in the overall scheme of things? Very little I expect.
  17. Every Sunday, the New Yorker sends articles from their archives around a specific topic. This week its Artists. This is one from 1976 by Whitney Balliet. Bird: The Brilliance of Charlie Parker
  18. It's fun to speculate but we don't know what's taking place one way or the other. This same discussion could have taken place last year at this time and lo and behold we not only got the Wilson set, but the Savory set. In other words, nobody knows.
  19. Ramos is the kind of player who you hate when he's not on your team but love when he is He's a royal pain in the ass. See https://www.planetfootball.com/in-depth/a-begrudging-tribute-to-sergio-ramos-spains-irreplaceable-anti-hero/
  20. Ramos has always been an aggressive player and, yes, he locked his arm, which should have been a foul, but on the way down their arms are locked so I don’t think Ramos could have withdrawn his arm. Yes, I’m a RM fan and have been for over 40 years when I used to live in Madrid. At the end of the day and as Klopp said, is anyone going to remember the injury in 10 years? No. Next year they go for four in a row, which I would be shocked if they could win. Frankly, I never thought three in a row was possible.
  21. Can’t see it. Rather see the Celtics in the final. They might have a shot against the Rockets. Against the Warriors, none.
  22. I don’t think that would appeal to me but I’m sure it would be successful for Mosaic.
  23. Thanks. I will have to look into that.
