  1. Cd.
  2. This may have discussed at some point but what is the verdict on this label. Are they similar to the Classics label.
  3. There are several on eBay.
  4. My mistake. I just realized the numbers are on the back cover Helps to be observant.
  5. I received the Johnson box from Jazz Messengers. My first purchase from them and superbly packed. It’s a wonder I received it at all as they got my state of residence wrong (Chester Pennsylvania instead of Chester NJ). One question — and it’s a minor one; the book is unnumbered. Is that the norm.
  6. Grant Green’s Feelin’ the Spirit.
  7. Couple of articles in today’s New Yorker. https://www.newyorker.com/books/double-take/philip-roth-in-the-new-yorker?mbid=nl_Daily%20052318&CNDID=48103853&spMailingID=13569010&spUserID=MTczODY1MTk5MjI5S0&spJobID=1402136256&spReportId=MTQwMjEzNjI1NgS2 https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2000/05/08/into-the-clear?mbid=nl_Daily%20052318&CNDID=48103853&spMailingID=13569010&spUserID=MTczODY1MTk5MjI5S0&spJobID=1402136256&spReportId=MTQwMjEzNjI1NgS2
  8. It looks to be both.
  9. Something he and Mozart may have had in common.
  10. Here’s another terrific article by Lewis Porter (with clips) that was on WBGO in April on his Deep Dive series how Walter Page wasn’t afraid to depart from the walking bass line. Walter Page
  11. Disc 1. I found out about this great set through this thread.
  12. That list from Edmund Wilson above reminds me of a letter I received in college from my Mother when I had not written in awhile. She sent me a checklist on how I was doing, asked me to check off the applicable box and return it. The point was made
  13. Sounds like it was a heck of an experience.
  14. There’s a moderately extended discussion about him in Talkbass.com. See Teddy Kotick
  15. There was an article in Jazz Profiles yesterday about the book Hank Mobley: Workout

    Jazz In Paris

I hadn’t looked at Amazon Uk so will check it out. Thanks.
  17. Great read. The Last Days of Time Inc. When I was growing up overseas, Time was my link home and I devoured it. Same for Sports Illustrated. Sadly, they're no longer vital in our Information Age. The account of they're being taken over by Meredith reminds me of when my company was taken over.
  18. No basements in California (at least Orange County). Property is expensive enough.
  19. Well, good luck. I’ve never been to an opera but should try it sometime (bucket list, I suppose). Hope it’s a great experience.
