Listened to the Konitz last week. Very enjoyable, made only more so by Chet Baker.

In Saturday's New York Times, Ben Shpigel, in an article entitled "The Man Baseball Loves to Hate," wrote "According to some of his peers, Alex Rodriguez is a hypocrite and a “prima donna.” He is not the “Yankee type,” either, and he has “monopolized all the attention” since arriving in the Bronx in 2004. Others have described his on-field conduct as “bush league,” “a little cheap,” an “unsportsmanlike act of cheating” and more typical of “junior high school baseball.” Tough crowd." See Arod for the remainder of the article. One of the points of the article is that Jeter doesn't do this kind of stuff and that Arod should be a little more like him.

Guess the person just likes Duke and pizza!

It's typical Arod. Just a classless fool. He's not called the Lightning Rod for nothing.

Looks like the Braves need to re-read the rule book: they messed up the infield fly rule. Chipper drops the ball, forgets that the rule has been called, throws to first, they screw it up and in the confusion Angel Pagan scores all the way from second. Bobby Cox was having a major cow in the dugout.

When Your Girlfriend Pillow Walks Out On You ...
Brad replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
That has to be one of the funniest things I've seen in awhile. Is the full sized doll next? -
By the big box do you mean the that lists for around $800. I still see that on Amazon.

I've been buying and selling for about 10 years and I also hate 10 day auctions. Watching auctions is a must. I can't think that any serious buyer would not do that. More photos are always good. I have sold Mosaics and I'm very scrupulous about checking every disc and if it has a scratch I say so. If you say it's mint, you need to back it up. For shipping domestically I only use UPS; I just don't trust the post office, plus I can track it better. If you have a rare item, it will sell itsel so if I'm selling Mosaics I don't really worry about the time it ends. As a buyer I've stayed up late or gotten up a little earlier for an auction. Don't forget to pack properly. Err on the side of caution. There's nothing that ticks me off to get something that was not properly or safely packed. When I get ready to ship something, I shake the box. If I hear movement, I repack. Whatever you're selling should not move. If it does, you've got a problem. When I've received things, I shake the box out of habit and if I hear movement I groan in dreaded anticipation of damage.

Niko, Thanks for the tip.

I'm looking for some of those box set of Jazz in Paris that were put out a few years ago. I've looked at the likely suspects -- CD Universe and Amazon (both US and France) -- but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

Henry, I think you need to calm down a wee bit. Nobody meant anything malicious and, yes, Chuck is an expert in jazz and he's got a lot of shit to show

McCartney to reissue solo catalog on Concord!?!?!
Brad replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Miscellaneous Music
He has a few good songs post Beatles but not a lot that will stand the test of time. On the other hand Harrison did have some memorable albums that are classic. His last one, Brainwashed, was one of his best. -
I paid a fair bit of cash to buy both of those in 24bit mini-lp format, needless to say I don't regret it, they're real treasures, should be in everyones collection etc, etc. Amen to that brother.

I'm sure there's further proof than just this (unless I'm missing something, which is possible).

Well, I had never heard of Eddie (obviously my loss) and I'm glad you're going to do the Cd; I will buy it.

I was never a big fan of his singing, if you can call it that..

That makes two of us! An auspicious debut. Thank goodness they offloaded Jacobs.

Boy, you aren't kidding. I can't remember a year like this in many a year.

Good pick up on the Dorham

The Mets Cards game has to be one of the more interesting ones recently, just for the fact it went 20. Cards in extra innings ran themselves out of a few innings and certain decisions weren too sharp such LaRussa not hitting for the pitcher with the bases loaded or Luttwig running with Pujols at bad; he was called out on a call that could have gone either way. I wouldn't say the pitching was great; the offenses were relatively inept. Memorable game though.

Rained last night (more water in the basement, ugh) and foggy today.

Tadd's Delight from Lovano's 52nd Street Themes.

The MacDonald book, which I think is the one I was thinking about in an earlier post, is impossible to find. One is listed on Amazon for $400.

Second this recommendation and highly recommend this exciting DVD of the nonet that features three Dameron compositions, "On a Misty Night", "If You Could See Me Now" and "Good Bait".
