  1. The Rules we have in this Forum are here: http://www.organissi...tion=boardrules I did not violate any Rule. If there really is a rule it should be written. Add it to the posted Rules. In this case Hans was overzealous in deleting my post. Deletion is a harsh sanction and should be used ONLY when one of the posted Rules has been violated. First, Jim said it's an unspoken rule which implies a custom or practice. As you know a custom or a practice can be just as effective as a written rule. Second, the first written rule says as follows: "1) The Organissimo Forums support the notion of free speech, although the definition of "free" is defined by the owners and operators of this board. We reserve the right to edit, delete, or otherwise moderate any post we deem inappropriate at any time for any reason." I did not add the emphasis by the way. Based on the foregoing, it seems that Jim and the mods have wide latitude in what should be allowed and not.
  2. Can't say I blame you Chris. That would drive me crazy also.
  3. As a former moderator on another forum, where we have exacting rules on commenting on sellers and their auctions, I believe Hans did the right thing. He has also acted judiciously in making his comments. I also believe it's wrong to publish the contents of a pm discussion. I would be incensed if that had happened to me when I was moderating. Moreover, if someone had started a thread criticizing one of the mods for their actions, it would have been quickly deleted which, by the way, is what I think should happen here.
  4. This may drive Chris crazy but I was just looking at Facebook and it said "Chris Albertson: Add as Friend." Sorry Chris
  5. Nice homage to Gigi Hans. Will need to pull that one out as well.
  6. That's a good one, though I actually thought Between the Assassinations (by the same author) was better. Something to look for later perhaps. It almost reminds me of the picaresque type of books that I read back in college. Kind of like Lazarillo de Tormes. Regardless it paints a less than flattering portrait of modern India.
  7. Maybe it's one of those vanity press books. There is no author, just a "creator": LLC Books (which sounds strange in and of itself).
  8. Mets continue with best home record. Trouble is that on the other side of the ledger they have the worst road record. They could be half dangerous if they could just win an occasional road series.
  9. I finally picked this up today. I don't have the original issue so nothing to compare it to but the sound (listened in my car) seemed typical to me of other Stones Cds I have: ok but not great. I didn't really remember most of the music except for a couple of songs so good to listen to them again.
  10. And he looks like Grant Green. MG I guess that shows how skilled Grant aka Pele or Pele aka Grant really was
  11. I am of course am pulling for Spain but considering the nature of their WC tournaments, one can't but be nervous. South Korea 2002 comes to mind. Saw that Bentsy referred to the Marca.com site. Very good Spanish site. Also saw a program on Fox Soccer Channel yesterday about Brasil v. Argentina, in which Argentines thought Maradona the best ever and Brasilians quite naturally Pele the best ever. Pele kept referring to himself in the third person, which I thought was odd almost as if he were talking about someone else. At any rate although Maradona is great, Pele is above everybody else.
  12. Thanks Jim. Guess that explains it. I'm curious as to the reasoning behind it.
  13. Sorry Bill. Seems to be working now
  14. Just started reading the White Tiger, for my book club
  15. I've noticed that my post count is frozen. I've made a few posts in the last couple of days but it hasn't moved. Is there anyway that can be checked. Thanks.
  16. I have XM in my car and listen to (on a semi frequent basis) classic vinyl (Ch 46). They pay a lot of what you expect and repeat a lot of the same things, particularly Led Zeppelin. You don't often hear the obscure groups. Some of the hosts aren't bad like Carol Miller and Dennis Elses (sp?) of the old WNEW FM in New York.
  17. I disagree. No one will forget his imperfect perfect game. One of the radio hosts in NY said that years from now he and Joyce will clean up on the autograph circuit, appearing in shows together. Brad, I think that was the point the tweeter was trying to make. J.H., You know that we NY guys are a little on the slow side
  18. I always thought of him as trying to create or live up to this image as rock's bad boy. He's become a caricature of himself.

  20. Thats too bad. It's a wonderful album, one of my favorites.
  21. Shawn, Some of the bluesier, R & B early stuff is interesting, such as Now! and the Rolling Stones, which are not all reflected on Hot Rocks. An earlier version of Hot Rocks, which I like better is Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass). If you're not big on them, this is the album for you. If you want to go a littel further, if you don't want to pick up individal albums, I'd recommend "Singles Collection: The London Years," a 3 cd set. The one album of theirs that I find indispensible is Aftermath. Post 1972-73, I don't really care for them but really love the early to late 60s stuff.
  22. I often find I have that problem. Here's a recent photo of me on vacation

    Robert Johnson

The less we pay attention to Clapton, the better of civilization will be. Clapton seems to hold the love-to-hate role in the blues world that Jarrett has in the jazz. Whatever ... my beef is with the "most important blues singer that ever lived" crappola. That happens to be his opinion and, as I stated earlier, if Johnson was a huge influence on Clapton's playing, what is the issue. To him, he's apparently the "most importan blues singer that ever lived." So what? Everyone has someone who has tremendously influenced them in their life, whether or not that person is the greatest whatever. Geez man, chill a bit. His opinion, fine. This is mine - that anyone who think Johnson is the "best" blah blah hasn't really listened beyond him. IMO. Besides, the phrase used isn't "most important" - the phrase used is "the best". There's a difference. Ya could argue the first - I'd still disagree. But the second? Nah. IMHO. I'm chillin dude His opinion, fine. Your opinion, fine. It's all in our humble opinions

On the other hand perhaps we should just look at his statement as who influenced him the most in his blues playing.
