  1. Ditto. Someone has way tooooooooooo much time on their hands.
  2. Here's another list, a little similar to the first.
  3. Let's tie Jim down and pour Jeri Southern into his ears. He better watch out that the Jazz singers union don't picket his house.
  4. Offering arbitration is akin to a binding contract, a situation they don't want to be in with the outfielders.
  5. Mannered and effete? That's a rather strong condemnation. Why do we reject singers in jazz but not in other genres?
  6. Glad to hear you're feeling better and hope it continues

Ditto that, everything is very personal. Lon gave me some good advice when I was looking for a new system a few years back.
  8. Thanks for the link. Some of those Rhino boxes look inviting.
  9. After I finished watching the Saints - Pats game last night and done a little practice on the guitar, I was flipping the channels and they were showing it again on one of the HBO channels (we have Dish Network, which has seven or eight of them). Anyway, I arrived just at the moment Beck went on. The guy makes everything look so effortless. What a master. A Day in the Life was just so incredible and all finger picking to boot. Plus, I love his bassist, the young prodigy Tal Wilkenfeld. She is just so fantastic.
  10. We could probably have a whole forum dedicated to bad lyrics (which are sometimes just an afterthought to a catch melody).
  11. If that's the case, he was probably late. There were some stores in our area opening at 3am on Friday. Absurd! Oh, yes, this is the alleged "other" woman (and, no, I don't mean the one on the left ). Any questions? I don't know ... she doesn't look nearly blonde enough for Tiger. She's blond enough for me

  13. I see this references to Cyber Monday. Is that the internet's version of Black Friday?
  14. He's going to tell some kind of story eventually, particularly if he doesn't want to lose his advertisers; those types get nervous about messy, unexplained incidents.
  15. I watched this last night and as I went to the second night, I was glad to see the first night. I enjoyed Simon & Garfunkel, Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Wonder. There didn't seem to be much warmth between Simon & Garfunkel. Maybe time doesn't heal all wounds. The one thing I found a little strange but I guess it was done for ratings is that they put Jeff Beck and Springsteen as the last acts they showed; Springsteen had originally performed at the end of the first night and Jeff Beck as the second act of the second night. When U2 finished at 1045 last night, I figured that was a bit odd since he had finished the show when it was live. Apparently, HBO decided otherwise. I guess not a big deal but people watching last night would not have realized that the concerts were not shown in order.
  16. I don't hear any facts here or in the media, just a lot of rumors and innuendo. You can speculate but no one really knows the background behind the story. Repeating what someone told you, who may have heard that from someone else and so forth, is not a fact.
  17. The conventional wisdom at the end of last season was that Damon would be the choice over Matsui because Matsui is basically a DH and they want to use that position to rest several players. The biggest mistake you can make is to let emotion rule your decision; better to get rid of a player a year too soon than a year too late.
  18. There's also the Phillip Norman book although I can't vouch for it. However, it appears to be comprehensive.
  19. This is on HBO tomorrow night, starting at 8.
  20. Good luck. What they did for me was make me a xerox copy of the book.
  21. Missed it live but will catch it on the archive.
  22. I don't have a copy but Mosaic could make a copy for you I'm sure; they did that for me with the Bud Powell book.
  23. "Living in the Material World" by George Harrison, off the album of the same name.
  24. It's like a holiday ritual at organissimo
