  1. Not sure if this has discussed much here but the recent changes regarding reporting Paypal/Ebay sales transactions (for accounts collecting $600 or more) will definitely put a damper on the flipping business. Depending on the volume the flipper does, they will have to account for a 30% cut in taxes of their profits and that will raise the prices and probably dampen demand. We shall see.
  2. I used to bet on the NFL and did OK. There are good spots if you are disciplined and have reasonable expectations. The Bengals seemed to be a very strong play, with Chiefs and Mahomes high public profile causing a higher than expected (by me) line. It is similar to the stock market. A contrarian can do well but it takes some nerve to go against the crowd. You need to be able to recognize value.
  3. Appreciate the many condolence messages . Currently the covid symptoms are fading and feeling close to 100% , just some nasal congestions. Funeral home visitation Friday/ mass and luncheon Saturday. Hvae some N95 masks but still not looking forward to meeting and greeting a lot of people but it will all be over in a few days. Hope the most vulnerable will make the smart choice. I know my mom doesn't care! take it easy Mike
  4. I'm about a week into when I first showed symptoms. Probably would have just isolated for a week or two had my 93 yr old mom not suffered a heart attack last Wendesday. She had a couple stents inserted last Thursday, in what turned out to be a measure of last resort. So I got tested Thursday to confirm my status one way or the other, so I could visit or not. Got the 'positive' notice Saturday evening and she passed to the other side Sunday morning. My brother, sister in law and daughter was with her a lot the last few days so she was not alone. But my sister and i both tested positive and could not be there physically. It's tough but I keep in mind the thousands who were hospitalized or in nursing homes and died away from any family members during the pre-vaccine/ non-surge days of the pandemic.
  5. My test just came in....Posi-tiv-o--vouty....As Slim would say.... I'm doing fine after a couple of slightly rough days. Have had the Pfizer two shot and booster. Nothings perfect.
  6. Pricing CDs on a cold morning, waiting for the garage to heat up before an hour on the rower and listening to some free jazz from Melbourne Musikki Oy -Without Warning
  7. Happy New Year to you all and your loved ones. Hope its filled with music, friends and a little laughter. Peace Mike
  8. Daughter got me 2LP Coltrane Love Supreme/Live in Seattle. Wife got me 2 books by George Saunders Specifically did not request any music other than the Coltrane. Too much catch up listening to do. Maybe next year! Happy holidays and thanks from Scott & Ellen for the continued support of the Never-ending CD Sale! Mike
  9. Can't get past the firewall but will have to put 'The White Album" on my reading list for 2022
  10. I think they have had at least 3 or 4 open house sales over the last couple years, even during the pandemic. Wished I live closer to attend one but alas, you can't do it all. Also, I could not access the article linked in the first post so can someone summarize the issue? I am curious (but not yellow) Having talked to Michael once or twice over the last 5 years, I got the sense that they were trying to retire and were trying to figure out the easiest way .....

  14. Doing some light reading while at the beach for a couple weeks. Finished "The Last Days of Louisiana Red" by Ishmael Reed. and started "The Noise and the Signal" by Nate Silver
  15. The luxurious life of a jazz musician, the whole band riding the subway....
  16. Only saw the Stones once, a few years back at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. As a fan of the band for years, I enjoyed watching Charlie do his thing without breaking a sweat.. He definitely looked like he was having fun, without trying too hard. Listening to "Flowers " (mono/vinyl) to start the night.
  17. I'll check my inventory (tomorrow) Andrew is a favorite but 'Life is brief" -R Zimmerman. And I am sure my wife won't enjoy selling CDs after I shuffle off this mortal coil (whenever). So there's that
