  1. If you build it, they will drink it?
  2. Well, yeah. I see it all the time with two "l"s, and actually had it with two "l"s, and the board spellchecker didn't like that. So I looked at the heading of the tab that had the story, couldn't see for shit (I'm not kidding about needing new glasses...), thought it might have been just one, "corrected" and posted. And that was that. So, if you think it's ok to make fun of old people with failing minds who don't see well, you've certainly met the right guy here.
  3. TBH, the Ozzie Guilen firing doesn't surprise me. After he made that idiot Castro comment, I knew his days were numbered. I've always thought his last name was Guillen If it matters to you, it's actually Guillén So if it matters that much to you, get it all the way right. Otherwise, I'm getting new glasses in a few weeks and never will learn to type good, so proceed accordingly.
  4. they would make a great broadcast team. they might be fighting in the booth. Ozzie's probably the better pure fighter, but Valentine would punch you in the kidneys when you had you back turned, so....hmmmm....sounds like a pay-per-view!
  5. Well, let's have some of this!
  6. This is the guy who got Fathead & Marchel on the same session, right? Happy birthday, just for that! To him and who ever else's idea it might have been!
  7. Looks like Ozzie Guilen & Bobby Valentine have something in common - one year's employment when it was supposed to be more than that: http://www.lonestarball.com/2012/10/23/3544624/miami-marlins-fire-ozzie-guillen That, and a total lack of surprise that it happened...
  8. Except when it doesn't, but you never know when that will be!
  9. Call me a masochist, but I find that McCarver often makes some points...it's just how he makes them that continues to grate. But it wasn't always so, iirc. It's been quite a while since it hasn't been so, And yes! to the super-slow-mo. Seeing a bat actually flex backwards when coming into contact with a well hit ball is uber-cool. But it's also scary as hell to see what a pitcher's elbow really goes through. My goodness! I was thinking at the time, if you could sum up the essence of Hunter Pence in one hit, that would be it.
  10. Oh great, now I'll need more Ambien to get to sleep. Thanks, Larry. The time that was lost in transference from his mind to his horn was sometimes remarkably minimal.
  11. Not tonight, it looks like. Soon, hopefully.
  12. I've always enjoyed the Montreal & Boston stuff a little more than usual. But then again, I get into Bird no matter what, always find something there that's like whaaaaaatttt?
  13. Have no need for the Dizzy or Shearing boxes, that's not my style, but the Miles broadcast box is bootlegging done mostly right. The Prestige St. Louis material, Columbia Dameron set, and if you want to quibble, the stuff that BN released on Birdland 1951 or whatever it was & the expanded BOTC , should all be on the shelf on the street where you live in addition to them being here, but the rest of it is just one big bootleg that compiles a bunch of other bootlegs (many of them of Boris Rose-label origin, and some of which I had never heard of before) very effectively, so yeah, get it as cheap as you can (Berkshire!) and make beaucoup copies to hand out to the hip kids at Halloween.
  14. When I think of all the time, energy, and social skills I've wasted over the years reaching out to people - many of whom I've never even seen, much less smelled or shared liquid nourishment with - for various materials so I could make my own sets instead of just sitting on my fat ass and waiting for the opportunity to pay Jordi Pujol to do it for me, I kinda tear up inside. I mean, I had to be nice to people and make deals and shit like that. Do you have any idea how...unnatural that was for me? Damn you Jordi Pujol, you've rendered my life meaningless.
  15. The Open Door material was from, when? July 1953? That's some really free Bird as well.

I rather enjoyed the Selects. They worked for me in a lot of ways, sorry to hear of their demise. Reasonably sized/priced packages targeting a specific portion of work, hey. great idea, great product. Count me as a fan. Too bad about all that inferior (but legal!) product delivered to impatient buyers at a price that Mosaic could not match. Too bad about that.
  17. Other than him possibly being only half-neutered, I most certainly think NOT!

  20. Is Clifford no longer with us? If so, I was not informed. How does this happen?
