That Haynes album (or the VISTALITE portion of it anyway, which is all I know) pretty much sucks except for the version of "Invitation", which is one of Joe Henderson's greatest moments on record, bar none.

I'm in the process of developing one. Have been for a few years, in fact. Some of them are as stiff and as "white" as they're all percieved to be in some quarters, but some of them have a really "liquid" way with melodies, words, and just plain overall vocal technique that I'm finding increasingly appealing. A good "crooner" (kind of a derisive term, but we all know what it means, so let's stick with it anyway) can be incredibly musical. Check out Johnny Desmond on those Miller AAF sides and listen closely to all the nuances. Incredible stuff. Not at all "jazz", but is jazz the only "real" music? Hell no. It's just another way to tell a story, really. And the good ones could do it really, REALLY well.

The original version of the dip is made w/Ro-Tel Diced Tomatoes & Green Chiles. Try the "spicy" version that's been on the market for a few years now, and instead of ground beef, use chorizo, or any other spicy sausage that is available in your area. Is it good? Oh HELL yeah! It's about the sole redeeming feature of Velveeta, which is one more than Cheez-Whiz has going for it (although I've never been to Philly. But CHEEZ-WHIZ H. KRYST - can't a city that rich in tradition find something better for their signature sandwhiches?)

Will you be plaing a cut from that Raymond Scott Secret 7 disc? There's a (brief) moment or two on that one where Costa sounds like Walt Dickerson!

I'm going with the Cheez-Whiz, because at least Velveet comes in a psedo block. Cheez-Whiz comes in either a jar or a spray can. I ain't never heard of no cheese coming in no jar. And spray cans are for paint and haircare products, of which Cheez-Whiz is neither, at least if used as the manufacturer intended. Arst ye w'me or neigh?

Oh yeah, a fire ant bite will leave a welt that comes to a pus-filled head. Not a BIG one, mind you, but them badboys are packin' venom, for sure.

Well, fire ants don't just sneak up on you and stage a gang attack, you have to be fairly close to their mound, which is easily visible. But they are vicious when they do bite (and there's no such thing as "just one" fire ant bite - when one comes, there's plenty more right there with it, so when the biting begins, you want to move away ASAP or sooner), they will come all up in your house by any and all means, and they do wreck havoc with wildlife. Poke a fire ant mound with a stick, and in less than a second, the ground is nearly solid with the phukkers, looking for the first available thing to gang up on. They're in a frenzy. Fire ants SUCK.
