Leisuring my way through this one. Very listenable, always there.
  2. Not sure that's what I get from it....what I do get is a wonderfully off-kilter engagement with the James Brown concept of the displaced upbeat offbeat.
  3. Little Johnny Slippers - Saturday Morning at The Comfort Club (Recorded LIVE!!!)
  4. Ashby has a crate-digger following, mainly from her Cadet records. But she was a fine talent indeed, so no matter what the market, I'm happy it exists. But yeah, that price disincentivizes me to honestize my collectionasation of her workiphonics.
  5. Hey, it's vinyl. It's more expensive because it says so.
  6. Rampart du Lolly - Scale-a-bration!!!
  7. This is most definitely wonderful.
  8. Audio Daddio?
  9. oh my goodness...
  10. Zuella Diggers - Gettin' In The Grave!!!
  11. What is woefully missing is any live recoding's of the Ammons/Stitt road band of the early 50s. Doesn't seem that they got captured live. But I hear that they could really tear it up. No doubt!
  12. Tony is on fire for every second of this record. It's barely a "jazz-rock" record. Definitely not a "fusion" record. It's really a jazz record with way more youthful energy than most "jazz records" of the time....or of most time, to be honest.
  13. This strikes me as a fair point to consider. As such, and I hate to be this proactive but why not, it also seems like a good point to lock the thread and send all parties with an opinion to their own corners to leave it their.
  14. If Anna Barron is still alive... there are probably some or more tapes, one would hope? Who has the passion and the money to do something meaningful?
  15. I like them a lot, yes. If I was to cull my Stitt records on a totally "objective" basis, these would certainly make the cut.
  16. I know what he was thinking (I think....) and yes, Schapp's version allows me to do that. On the old mix, it was like, wow, that was unfortunate....
  17. So the tnor in question was not likely isolatd during the original recording, right? Or was it maybe fairly isolated by baffles? I mean, there's all sorts of digital trickery afoot and available these days, but yeah, if it's there it should always be there, I would think. not a now you hear it now you don't type thing.
  18. This session was recorded on, what, 4 tracks?
  19. Would the OP object to this thread being moved to the Artists forum? Happy do that that, if so desired.
  20. ALL of his Catalog? Not sure I understand this company, but they do appear to be....huge: Reservoir Media - Front Page (reservoir-media.com)
  21. Jump World was pretty grabbing back in the day. Glad to hear that it still is. I still think that whatever M-Base "backlash" that there was was a bit broad and ultimately myopic in throwing it all out,. Then again, that's the nature of backlashes.
