  1. You do realize that as long as the laws of physics remain as they are no one could ever see the Board register a participant total of zero.
  2. We have been through this so many times. Enough already. B3-er has added software to eliminate any sighting of a political idea to those who request it. He will add an ignore function in January so if you ignore Johnny E you will eliminate 90% of the political postings. To those few who remain in the political forum and seem to gain their "raison d'etre" from vilifying George Bush and the Republicans allow them their meager enjoyment. They have so little else.
  3. Thanks b3-er.
  4. Without the edit and delete functions I would no longer be able to post any offers in the Offering and Looking For forum.
  5. My particular geographical location permits me to partake in the holidays on both sides of the Border. I so enjoyed Canadian Thanksgiving in October that we will re-celebrate again this afternoon in Nothern NY at, of all things, a Democratic Party get-together. No, Weizen, I haven't gone over to the other side (but some of my best friends are Democrats!!!). Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  6. I had intended to write you and invite you to return to the 'O' Board. Quite a number of members miss your frequent updates regarding the goings-on at Blue Note particularly your back and forth discussions with Michael Cuscuna. We, the Blue Note consumers, benefitted from that with the most recent example being all the additional material on Sonic Boom. I advised those who wanted to dredge up the past with respect to your departure to let it go. What was done, was done. But, on the other hand, you have to, as couw says, let bygones be bygones. So hopefully you are back to stay. And BTW, what's the news at Blue Note?
  7. I'm lost here. What does that mean?
  8. Me too, too. But I sure wish he hadn't... Let it go. What's done is done.
  9. I was not here for the "Greg Affair" and did not know that Kevin Bresnahan had been a casualty of that affair---willingly so on his part if I read the thread correctly. However, let's bury the hatchet. I would like to write Kevin and welcome him back to this Board unless there is some strong objection from the Board's current members. He was always a thoughtful poster and his relationship with Michael Cuscuna was invaluable. The recent release of Sonic Boom resulted from the lobbying of Kevin at Blue Note.
  10. There was an item this afternoon on CNBC that Michael Jackson's new CD which was released last week hit #1 in the UK yesterday. Despite recent revelations over here, his British CD sales have not suffered at all.
  11. Or, like Roman Polanski, he could skip to Europe.
  12. I have encountered the same problem in the last 2 days which existed a couple of weeks ago. The email notification of a PM comes many hours after the PM is sent.
  13. A great early soul jazz title is 'Space Flight' from 1960 with Sam Lazar on organ and a pre-Blue Note Grant Green holding down the guitar spot and the great Chess blues bass man Willie Dixon on upright. It might still be available as an import release from a 1998 Japanese soul jazz collection and well worth getting.
  14. A breaking story on MSNBC a few minutes ago. Police have obtained warrants and are now in the process of searching Michael Jackson's ranch. I wonder what that's all about ???
  15. Unforetunately, it concerns me. Last year I tactfully asked you never to reply again to my offerings. But you couldn't leave well enough alone. Bandito registers last week, posts once to me on my thread, sends me two PMs asking for soul-jazz, it is all done on your computer but it is not you, it is your cousin. This carries as much credibility as why I was never reimbursed last year. I am referring this matter to B3-er.
  16. undergroundagent, Who is bandito?
  17. The 3 locations of CD Warehouse are OK. The one at Clyde and Merivale is the best. There is nothing else of interest with respect to jazz CDs in Ottawa.
  18. An item on MSNBC this afternoon that veteran actor Art Carney passed away today at age 85. I just love those old Honeymooners reruns that they show on TV Land. The humor is timeless. I doubt if you could say that about current TV fare.
  19. Perhaps someday. You may have more JRVGs than me. Although I doubt it. All the best.
  20. Don't forget. With regard to The Three Sounds. I'm keeping you in mind. All the best.
  21. The JRVG Disc 2 is a big improvement over the domestic 'Standards'. Jazzshrink, I have not done an A/B of JRVG Disc 1 Vs. the Domestic RVG but your observation does not surprise me.
  22. According to MSNBC this morning, 'Matrix: Revolutions ' grossed nearly $86 M for its opening weekend (Wed. - Sun.).
  23. We finally got to see Matrix: Revolutions yesterday. The matinee tickets were the first that were still available since the movie opened last Wednesday. I was surprised that the theatre was full and no one seemed under 18. Where were all the kids under 18? I won't give the plot away. If you haven't seen Reloaded the movie won't make any sense. It is like there has been a 6 month intermission. There is no introduction to the movie. It just starts off right where it left off last May. The first hour is plodding and slow. Then hold on to your seat for the best special effects that I have ever seen in any movie. It is spectacular. The battle for the citadel will knock you socks off. The second hour is suberb. It is the special effects which carry the film. Neo's journey to the City of the Machines can only be seen on the big screen. The final scene with the Oracle and the maker of the Matrix is a real plot twist. Excellent finale to the trilogy.
  24. We went last evening to see Matrix: Revolutions. The cineplex has 17 screens and it was playing on 4 screens. To our surprise EVERY screen was sold out for every showing last night. The best that we could do was the matinee this afternoon at 1 PM. I hope that all those little kids at a Saturday matinee aren't too noisy! I'll post a review.
  25. Who remembers the '90s? It's soooo... long ago! I wonder if anybody is still alive from that era?
