  1. well at the least, it is interesting-- so wait what tape did they end up utilizing? id have to actually hear one of these to get religion, but i just dont see how you can go any other way but original van gelder. part of song for my fathers magic is it IS a kind of DARK sounding track--
  2. im not going to get long winded about this, i am just saying, if its like a 60s bn release i prefer to hear the horns on different sides sometimes, like hanks over there, lees over there...i dont know....i mean w/ jazz stereo & mono isnt that big a change to me like, say, the stereo & mono sgt pepper. i mean if theres a mono mix like before 1962, ill prefer that but afterwards..i dont know how i picked 62 but i did. most bn after 62 id want stereo and most before, mono-- like the mono sidewinder, its awesome, but #1 im used to hearing the stereo so the famliarity part, and #2 actually hearing it in stereo is kind of, how i say, fun.. heres joe henderson, heres lee morgan....
  3. EVERY TIME IT LOCKS UP AND STARTS TO SKIP...EVERY SKIP IVE BEEN JUST LEAVING IT ON "SKIP" MODE, FOR A LITTLE WHILE, BECUASE every time it skips, it sounds like, every skip could each make each's own #1 hip-hop single, one of them in Monk's Dream in particualar is awesome for those of you who dont know, i have now a F- grade Larry Young Unity, no no thats too harsh: its a solid D. the covers VG++ but the record: omg. what kind of jazz fan is so rough w/ larry young unity? esp if the covers all good-- why do records get scratched this bad? i mean, are they ALL houseparty records? Unity? maybe MY houseparty, but..... uh oh, heres another skip-- its on the head of "IF"....it is swinging like the Duke Ellington big band. the 1 1/2 sec "sample" or whatever is perfect, maybe i wouldnt of thought of concevied of this 30 yrs ago but i DO hear the little samples as somewhat musical, should i not do that? if eric b & rakim did lyrics to these it would be there greatest album
  4. why am i thinking 3rd time around was recorded another time, only slower?!?!?? why am i thinking that!>?!:?!
  5. deinftely! funny the bluenote affixed record label, looks so nice- much better than other period labels...almost looks like new wait so why do they do a wayne shorter song-- did wayne himself ever record that one? Venus De Mildew. i wonder whose idea it was to do that...
  6. the cover is weird: it has a white bar on top of the cover, that adds the "stereo" word, and the BST catelogue-- like an addition to the cover- it is not vangelder stamped its a re-do, but it sonds fantastic- im very happy w/ it right now you can see what i got here: http://i.ebayimg.com/20/!BvLQLqQBmk~$(KGrHqIOKioEvNh,,wdGBMDbcNRBKg~~_12.JPG it does sound good to me...if i a/b'd it w/ a vangelder...id be interested...but have u guys seen this one?
  7. its funny, les mccanns pac jazz output, i really dont care too much about, but his abc output, omg...its way different from his early 70s stuff w/ eddie harris
  8. you found a sealed Impulse! ? ive never seen a sealed impulse-- what kind of cellophone did they use-- did it have breathe holes? was it tight or loose-- i know those impluses! have bulky covers..

  13. WHY . HASNT. THIS. BEEN. REISSUED. #1 sonically: its the best sounding Blue note I'd **EVER** HEARD. at least in the 1960s. OH. MY. GOD. im only in the first track, this rates up there with my MFSL CRIME OF THE CENTURY...this lp is EPIC not on liberty 2nd 1970s pressings 3rd et al.... never reisused i bet you the tape has been missing the whole time, im telling you. why else could it happen ---its also like: HELLO THAD JONES, HAVENT SEEN U SINCE I SAW U AT THE DETROIT NEW YORK JUNCTION, WHY DIDNT U SIDEMAN ON MORE 60s BLUENOTES?!?! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. it was good i had fun listening to it!
  15. omg. found w/o a cover (plain sleeve): KD Jazz contracts....in a pile in my room whilst cleaning-- its a black label one. i looked it up, this lp was done up w/ a white label, a similar blue coloured label, and also my black label. one even was w/ the white label, pressed on red vinyl. anyways i wanted to know what order it goes in, pressingwise: is it: white-->blue-->black as i suspected by looking at prices? but visually i would say it should go black -->blue --> white- but i dont know, so yea... on an another note, is sonny not stepping up the mic on song 2 side 1? did someone put a sock over the mic? where are you sonny? underwater? i dont know abt this black label....
  16. i for no reason i can remember used to not like Prayer meetin', got the original, really love it-- bucket i agree w/ you guys, all the songs sound exactly the same...they are funky, at least--
  17. dude i posted this on hoffman, joe harley is seriously hatin' on the BJP.......
  18. i am not michael cuscuna or stereojack. i have no idea if what im about to say is or is not true, but Big John Patton- Oh Baby stereo ST-84192 track 1 'fat judy' might be the most highest-fidelity blue note vangelder recording and/or mastering that I've ever heard- dont make me post this on hofmann you guys, lol!!
  19. well mine was .99c! .99 2010 cents! lolololol
  20. i will not win the tina brooks record on ebay right now
  21. omg it IS vangelder stamped, mine is the purple label issue, one ofthe sides adds RE-1 leading to me think it IS redone somehow, but yes mine definely is vangelder stamped on both sides
  22. maybe its a "good reprocessed stereo job"? !?
  23. if anyone has a copy of this, throw it on......... i am not displeased right now..., Mr PC does some bowed solos, they sound nice, should i be more critical of this?
