how can i have respect for the modern blue note? they whore the rights out to other companies to release all the cool stuff (eg. THE PHANTOM, CONBREAD/DIPPIN' on Vinyl, etc) and the stuff they do release is the same stuff over and over, look at the recent lists of RVGs......i want at least to have the blue note of 1995 again......

has this ever been on cd overseas, cause i certainly dont think its been issued here ever. how many people vote for this to be reissued. i think its highly underrated and would make for a good reissue

as a mater fact i do have it on cdr- but the dude did facimile copies of the box cover on each label (in colour) and it looks really cool!

so blue note gave permisson for this company to remaster the orginal mono master tapes, is that correct?

great. so concord just CASTARATED the Coltrane Box set. Bravo. What's their reasoning? THAT ANYONE WHO DOESN'T ALRADY HAVE THE COLTRANE BOX AT THIS POINT IN TIME (2006) IS TO YOUNG TO REALLY KNOW ABOUT JAZZ AND THUS DONT DESERVE THE TRANE BOX IN THE 1st PLACE?!??!?

i dont know either i prefer mono #1 except in certain instances in rock/pop where it sounds better in quad

u are all nuts. coltrane box is essential. it should never go out of print. no they should not split it up. its a nice handy package. yeah its intense, but SO IS THE FACT COLTRANE RECORDED SO MANY DAMN ALBUMS. the one thing i dont like is the over 200 dollar list. if u cant handle the box i say you cant handle coltrane. this after all is BY ALL MEANS coltranes CARREER HIGHLIGHT, this box. this is is most accomplished bebop work. his later impulse stuff does not impress me nearly as much. that stuff is ok, and different, w/ his famous quartet, but the true cutting edge bop solos of his prestige era,is is the true meat and potatoes of any coltrane collection.

can someone help me recall what the last alfred session was, and what the 1st frank session was?? im guessing 1966 sometime>?!?

If i want surrround im going to go Quad, which i can't do till i find a nice vintage rug to cover the floor where the wires will run under to put speakers in the back. you should see what my friend doug did- syncing 7 hi-fi's together in his basement (each w/ 7 osciciloscopes on top). it sounds amazing
