THAT IS COOL HE WORKED FOR THE TELEPHONE CO.: did he ever see one of those special phone synthesizeres they used to sell in the 50s that could program a sequence that changed the voltage of your ring so that the ring can play a little song? They were invented and made by Raymond Scott. -

great. so concord just CASTARATED the Coltrane Box set. Bravo. What's their reasoning? THAT ANYONE WHO DOESN'T ALRADY HAVE THE COLTRANE BOX AT THIS POINT IN TIME (2006) IS TO YOUNG TO REALLY KNOW ABOUT JAZZ AND THUS DONT DESERVE THE TRANE BOX IN THE 1st PLACE?!??!? -
Coltrane Complete Prestige Box
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to JSngry's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
u are all nuts. coltrane box is essential. it should never go out of print. no they should not split it up. its a nice handy package. yeah its intense, but SO IS THE FACT COLTRANE RECORDED SO MANY DAMN ALBUMS. the one thing i dont like is the over 200 dollar list. if u cant handle the box i say you cant handle coltrane. this after all is BY ALL MEANS coltranes CARREER HIGHLIGHT, this box. this is is most accomplished bebop work. his later impulse stuff does not impress me nearly as much. that stuff is ok, and different, w/ his famous quartet, but the true cutting edge bop solos of his prestige era,is is the true meat and potatoes of any coltrane collection. -
hi vibes, chewy-chew-chew-benitez signin' on here: you don't know me very well, do you vibes? im not gettin SACD. If i want surrround im going to go Quad, which i can't do till i find a nice vintage rug to cover the floor where the wires will run under to put speakers in the back. you should see what my friend doug did- syncing 7 hi-fi's together in his basement (each w/ 7 osciciloscopes on top). it sounds amazing

The format of the audio disc, known as the "Red Book" standard, was laid out by Sony and Philips in 1981. The format is a two-channel 16-bit PCM encoding at a 44.1 kHz sampling rate. Four-channel sound is an allowed option within the Red Book format, but has never been implemented. are some OJC limited editions going oop?
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to Pete B's topic in Re-issues
WHAT R U TALKING ABOUT THAT WOULD BE THE BESTEST SHIT EVER IF CONCORD SOLD EM ALL TO COSTCO. COTSCO WOULD KEEP THEM AT 9 OR MAYBE 10.99 AND WOULD PROB. EVEN REPACKAGE THEM IN THOSE EARLY 90S STYLE PLAIN CARDBOARD CASINGS W/ CELLOPHANE AROUND IT LIKE COSTCO STILL LIKES SO MUCH. MAYBE THE WOULD EVEN GIVE **FREE SAMPLES** OF 'EM JUST LIKE THEY DO WITH CHEESE DOODLES. CHEWY IS IN FAVOUR OF THE COSTCO BUYOUT. -
i went to a john k lecture at an art gallery 2 or 3 yrs ago he showed the REAL lost episode- from nickelodeon, not these new ones that are from Spike TV. to solve a piece of the Chewy puzzle for you, Ren & Stimpy really did shape my psyche- I AM the ren & stimpy generation....

whoi even knows if Monk even liked beer. this is an outrage. even the pic of him on it is stupid. I will have no part in this whatsoever. I'm holding out for "Mobley-Kakes" -
1st off i open the cd right in the store to make sure there wasnt another masterful blue note/capitol/emi error but low and behold it was grant printed on the label so i trusted it. id like to think im the 1st one on the w.coast to get this cd, and ill stick to that. im about 2 listen to it and will do a secondary posting but 1st off this bob belden is nutz. that houston cd is on the eastbound LABEL, isnt it? its not called eastbound, its called 'the real thing'--- houston +grant + the infamous mowtown bassist james jamerson on bass-- 1st off i wanna know is this in print or ez to find on lp? that sounds like a great date. also i doubt grant "had a love affair with Cornelius Watts". jeez. Secondly whats the diff between a mono reference and multi track masters, other than the obvous. you mean at the venue they recorded it in stereo for the album, but also in mono, as, like a backup?!?? the note says: THE ORIG. MULT TRACK MASTERS HAVE NOT SURVIVED, CD IS FROM MONO MIXES MADE ON LOCATION.... what did Bob belden mean by the "socio-econ. demog. shift in black communities' taste in music", when he talked about the diff. between Mozambique and the more FM friendly Visions, etc.....you mean black people just stopped listening to funk and started listeing to smooth jazz right then?? i dont think it happened like turning on an off a light, did it? there were smooth lps and there were still hella funny lps, eg. kool and gang, cameo, et al.... --new cover art- its good. usually i dont like the new bluenotes covers, but ive liked a few. now its time to pound some chili and maybe some sugar (golden) crisp and listen 2 it!
