  1. wait wait so is THAT how albert ayler died, by jumping off a ferry? is that the answer to the "mystery" as we all have put it....
  2. hi chewy-chew-chew checkin' in here: let me take a bite of the chew-stick and say that basia is very underrated now beacuse she only has like 2 or 3 cds and has a great voice but her albums could have been better with different drum programming and production. but her songs definetly could be covered in jazz a lot more than they have been, espically "time and tide" from here debut cd. her 2nd cd from like 1990 thereabouts is also really good, and somewhat of an improvement on the 1st as far as programming is concerned. i am very imparticular with that kind of stuff, i would of much perfered straight latin percussion or maybe the phil collins famous short-attack reverb noise gated drum effect or something
  3. it would be 25 bucks for a ticket and 20 bucks in gas but i have never seen them and the beach boys are like my favorite band ever. its just the notorious mike love + bruce johnston, + five backup guys. has anyone seen this linup ever. is it still a fun show. im really thinking about doin it.
  4. chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez reporting here: it was 30 yrs ago this month that The Gentle Giant did their biggest US tour, which was a across the usa summer jaunt inbetween sets from Gary Wright Band (4 keyboard players + a dummer), right on the release of "dreamweaver"& Peter Frampton right at the time of frampton comes alive, and headliners YES. the shows and jfk stadium in dc and roosevelt stadium in jersey had 300,000 fans each approx.

  6. does the subway run right under tha village vanguard? what is that like.. did you say not a dangerous neighbourhood??!??? double-ha! dont let the jacklondon square mall atmsosphere fool you, its one of the more dangerous areas on the west coast. one time before a booby hutcherson show we stoped for 40's at the liqour store, and next thing u know, before u know it we were chillin' in an abandonded blown-out bldg that i could only guess was an old apt complex from the 1930s, and there were dudes smoking CRACK! i dunno much about that stuff but it was definetly the c-bomb
  7. i can eat more hot dogs than u SoulStation1. in 1998 i won the Love's BBQ 4th of july Rib Eating contest. and if i can pound the ribs i surely can mow down the hotdogs
  8. yea yea konitz is "ok" but lennie's star pupil is Warne
  9. chris albertson: u DENIED herbies vocoder? you DENIED herbies vocoder?>!>!
  10. after exiting the freeway DO NOT stop until you are inthe yoshis garage, and do not stop on the way back either- even if you get lost its MUCH safer to just keep aimlessly wandering around than to pull over at a gas station and get out for directions.
  11. i agree there are many good vantage points in yoshis but let me stress again: DON'T GET HIT BY THE TRAIN. it could be amtrak or freight and it runs down the middle where the 'double yellow line' should be.
  12. when is SOUL: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON comming out?????!???
  13. this is only one of 4 mobley recordings i dont have, and not its oop and i never see it like i used to-- GGRRRRRR!AAAGGRGRJG!@U8
  14. is this record good. are the heads very good with the four saxes, what are they like. how do you rate this lp?
  15. thank u : when i searched for it the results came up per posting instead of just thread titles and i could sift through all of the posts
  16. some guy on the amazon rev. said its really larry? is that really so? why is he listed as big john? how does this lp match up against the blue notes?
  17. yoshis is confusing. 1) dont get killed by the amtrak which runs IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET in front of yoshis. 2) they dont do reservations, just tickets- so yuo have to pay upfront 3) get there early to get a good seat, but even if youre early sometimes they screw you sincerely, Chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez
  18. i am a big fan of his rca lp EAST MEETS WEST w/ lee, BG, and johnny-griff-monkey9000, but i saw this earlier one today and was stumped....how assimilar or similar are these lps?
  19. Chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez sez: Gimme a break mr. goldberg the reason grant didnt have a hit is not cause he was a junkie. lots of junkies have had hit records. grant did have 45rpm jukebox singles but they just never picked up it had nothing to do w/ his personal habits sincerely, Chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez
  20. YOYOYUOYO THE LINK IN IT, SAYS "britt"-- SO WOULDNT THIS PROB. BE "I REMEMBER BRITT".....JUST A GUESS- I CANT D-L THE VID
  21. dan gould: you have a 1in" VTR reel to reel video recording of that? does that mean at one time u had a reel to reel 1 in tape VTR TV recorder? for originator of post: is this from your personal collection or did you just find on net-- if its on the net do u think the whole show cirrculates at all on tape--- my friend who downloads of the net hasnt mentioned this one yet in the lists he sends me of all the rare jazz vids being put on the torrent servers....
