Stan Kenton LP set on its way out
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to ASNL77's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
OH BOO HOO YOU DONT HAVE THE KENTON SET I DONT FEEL SORRY FOR U BEACUSE U LIKE ALL THE REST OF US SHOULD ALREADY HAVE ALL THIS STUFF ON PURPLE CAPITOL 78'S. ITS NOT LIKE THEY ARE RARE OR ANYTHING. EVEN I, CHEWY, WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN LIKE 75% OF THEM, AND THAT WAS THE LATE '90S! -
are some OJC limited editions going oop?
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to Pete B's topic in Re-issues
WHAT R U TALKING ABOUT THAT WOULD BE THE BESTEST SHIT EVER IF CONCORD SOLD EM ALL TO COSTCO. COTSCO WOULD KEEP THEM AT 9 OR MAYBE 10.99 AND WOULD PROB. EVEN REPACKAGE THEM IN THOSE EARLY 90S STYLE PLAIN CARDBOARD CASINGS W/ CELLOPHANE AROUND IT LIKE COSTCO STILL LIKES SO MUCH. MAYBE THE WOULD EVEN GIVE **FREE SAMPLES** OF 'EM JUST LIKE THEY DO WITH CHEESE DOODLES. CHEWY IS IN FAVOUR OF THE COSTCO BUYOUT. -
i went to a john k lecture at an art gallery 2 or 3 yrs ago he showed the REAL lost episode- from nickelodeon, not these new ones that are from Spike TV. to solve a piece of the Chewy puzzle for you, Ren & Stimpy really did shape my psyche- I AM the ren & stimpy generation....

A taste of Thelonious
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to brownie's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
whoi even knows if Monk even liked beer. this is an outrage. even the pic of him on it is stupid. I will have no part in this whatsoever. I'm holding out for "Mobley-Kakes" -
1st off i open the cd right in the store to make sure there wasnt another masterful blue note/capitol/emi error but low and behold it was grant printed on the label so i trusted it. id like to think im the 1st one on the w.coast to get this cd, and ill stick to that. im about 2 listen to it and will do a secondary posting but 1st off this bob belden is nutz. that houston cd is on the eastbound LABEL, isnt it? its not called eastbound, its called 'the real thing'--- houston +grant + the infamous mowtown bassist james jamerson on bass-- 1st off i wanna know is this in print or ez to find on lp? that sounds like a great date. also i doubt grant "had a love affair with Cornelius Watts". jeez. Secondly whats the diff between a mono reference and multi track masters, other than the obvous. you mean at the venue they recorded it in stereo for the album, but also in mono, as, like a backup?!?? the note says: THE ORIG. MULT TRACK MASTERS HAVE NOT SURVIVED, CD IS FROM MONO MIXES MADE ON LOCATION.... what did Bob belden mean by the "socio-econ. demog. shift in black communities' taste in music", when he talked about the diff. between Mozambique and the more FM friendly Visions, etc.....you mean black people just stopped listening to funk and started listeing to smooth jazz right then?? i dont think it happened like turning on an off a light, did it? there were smooth lps and there were still hella funny lps, eg. kool and gang, cameo, et al.... --new cover art- its good. usually i dont like the new bluenotes covers, but ive liked a few. now its time to pound some chili and maybe some sugar (golden) crisp and listen 2 it!

hey claude- he got it on that dime site- apparently which doesnt like misprints in their downloads- ill let you know -
im convinced my L is indestructible. when i moved it recently we had to carry it backwards and sideaways and then we actually rolled the whole thing over like a giant rectangle, you know, like on its side then upsidedown then up again 2 the other side. all that and it didnt break any tubes or nothin'. i havent even oiled it in 2 years, and it runs great.

chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to mgraham333's topic in Miscellaneous Music
for once in my entire life chewy-chew-chew and gould are in agreement- i too bought ZERO. i do not use credit card and even if i could do money order they still screw you over making you buy at least 20 or 30 was it to get the price break. what kind of shit is that. i want 80% off 1 cd! now thats a blowout. i still see plenty of used and many new/sealed OJC lps as well around- in fact i just got AT EASE W/COLEMAN just the other day. -
my friend said he download this dvd but hasnt seen it yet- do u know where/when this was recorded and who the personel is- i know thats a vague question but i dont think there are many miles vids from 1954....

but at filmore cannonalball adderely opened for the who! who did miles open for again, the dead? i dont remember. in his book he said he was suppose dto 2 support steve miller but refused cause steve miller sucks. and the charles lloyd opened up for i dont know who BUT MOST OF ALL AT FILLMORE EAST IN 1969 THEY WOULD HAVE JAZZ DAY AND 1 FLYER I SAW WAS LIKE A QUADRUPLE BILL OF: -COLEMAN HAWKINS QUARTET -LEE MORGAN QUINETET -ART BLAKEY AND HIS JAZZ MESSENGERS -THAD LEWIS/MEL JONES BIG BAND -
blah blah blah you guys scoff at the L series i know but i have one and so did booker t and so did tony kaye and even brother jack had one in his basement, which he told me before he died. another good hammond that is criticized is this one solid state model. it has built in leslie and sounds almost as good as shirley scott, who i think is the best organ player besides of course big john. my L is autographed on the particle board by Dr. Lonnie and the McGriffinator and joey D, which is a rare autograph for chewy-chew-chew, because i have a thing about fat jazz musicans. hey i know, joel fram, joeyd, and bobby shew should make a cd called "the fat jolly jazz trio"

hi everybody its chewy-chewX2 reporting here: tell misses slide_advantage_redux that she needs to grow up and learn how to laugh and life and love because the 40 yr virgin is the funniest comedy film since the three amigos came out in the late 80s. my expectations for this film werent too great, until i saw it on dvd!!! (BY THE WAY THE DVD CUT IS UNRATED w/ ADDED JOKES U HAVE TO SEE THE DVD VERSION) when they made fun of Asia like that, that was hillarious
