  1. re: vee jay id like to hip you gys to some info-- the best Vee Jay transfers you will find IMO are the cds made for a really small fly by night firm at the dawn of US cd market: "Suite Beat Records" its subjective but at least for 1st bassman the difference is night and day. very good drum sound on "go" as well- i dont listen to the two lee ones as much but for the paul chambers these by far are my definitive versions -young lions -heres lee morgan -1st bassman -Go
  2. once i asked this old lady visiting from england, """yr from england? wowowow, did you see all the rock concerts??""" "oh no, i used to go to the symphony.........." [awkwardness......] .......... .........."""but there was this one time me and the girls snuck out of our dormitory and went down the road to the local boys school, and met up at the town hall, and saw Emerson, Lake & Palmer"""" me:
  3. on the way to spin later: there were 12 bids but i got for 17, only like 2 dollars higher than the previous bid-- i guess everyone was bidding, but everybody was also lowballin' cause it was trip, lol. ive been waitin for a while for this one to pop up on ebay, theres 3 lps total from this famous lee date and this is the one that i havent seen on ebay yet i was worried cause it was from the esteemed 'funkyousounds' seller (who has everythingggggg)-- but i totally got it. the other lp is the one w/ the red cover and contains 1 song per side, side 2 being rakin' n scrapin. the other lp has multiple options--- the japan press, the trip press, and the phoenix press, this one is called 'speedball'. --- for this one i go w/ the phoenix, the vinyl quality is obviosly way better than the trip (i think its from 1980). SQ is astounding so i never really picked up the trip version, but if i saw it locally id probably get it the cd set still i think has a little more material, so that is still necessary too btw, k
  4. i dont like the OP's post. i dont like the thread starting out like that. i came here as part of the healing process, here is my statement- RIP Keith Emerson, who took the Moog synthesizer out of the studio and onto the road, changing rock performances forever. Seeing Emerson, Lake & Palmer is the greatest experience I've had, in life. November 2, 1944 - March 10, 2016.
  5. did one of you guys pick up the Del Shannon/Runaway 78 on green label Argentina-London Rec. that was on ebay the other day and now gone- it was 99.99 buy it now and in MIAMI. i should of just freaking done it, extreme rare opportunity, although the blue label Brazil-london rec. label version is way nicer. but how often do you see it listed domestically. i should of done it
  6. ---come to think of it, take side 2 for example, dont listen to it, just look at it.....huge track 1 band and a little trk 2 closer. very prestige-y. they really prestige'd up this blue note.
  7. mcduff was big prestige guy at that time, lateef, also on prestige
  8. its definitely like a blue note """one-off"" by that time Yusef was like completely into his own special music, so that he did this organ date like this, is suprising
  9. im exited about it now, thanks- yea this one always escaped me
  10. im listening on compact disc but you can listen on lp, after 2 albums i didnt quite get into yet (sportin life & domino theory), their last one is once again amazing. this is music of the gods. im so glad i got to see Zawinul Syndicate two times, it was really in the Weather Report spirit, if Wayne showed up it would of been complete its sad they knew it was the last album, in the liner notes they have caricatures, off all the sidemen over the years and it says "all the musician who gave their enthusiasm and talent over the last fifteen years, we sincerely thank." - joe zawinul and wayne shorter ITS LIKE THE INVISIBLE TOUCH OF WEATHER REPORT ALBUMS
  11. k i got a 70s rvg stereo-stamped copy, i was all feeling guilty buying something i was unsure about, its such an oddball session: you have two players not usu. asso. w/ blue note: yusef lateef, and jack mcfuff (who later became a bn artist in his own right). anyone know the story of this album?? its going to be way different from a vick/bjp/ben dixon album or something like that, i think.
  12. A-HA! this is 1000% proof that this can happen. mine has the same etching mistake OLD cover. OLD labels. but its a liberty lol. no ear. oh my god. its like the perfect blue note storm this lp
  13. but i just got done listening to a jazz cd
  14. dawg i have a Columbia Fletcher Henderson 78, its from 1929, sounds better than *any* 78 cut in the entire 1940s decade.
  15. there was another girl scatting something from monday night at birdland too. i dont hate scatting like i used to, it was Al Jarreau that got me enjoying it
  16. k, so its NY USA labels both sides, Stereo # 84105 , no EAR, 'classic style' pre liberty cover, vangelder stamped -- the monos DO have the playstlite 'ear'-- but not for stereos, is there a chance the stereos come from liberty era, yet use old style covers leftover and old style labels leftover, i say that cause: 1) no 'EAR' & 2) the vinyl weight *****also interesting to note: in the hand etchin of the side #s, side A has a scratched out "B", and side B has a scratched out "A".
  17. waiting 20 yrs on that release, as i just saw them in canada front row center. you know those regular days u usually have in life, with no king crimson directly in front of you, well this was one of those days when king crimson was right freaking there directly in front of you
  18. dawg u NEED at least the japan for US TRICK.....it will floor you.... heres what u want http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENESIS-Trick-of-the-Tail-CD-Original-Japan-Made-US-Issue-AUDIOPHILE-Smooth-Case-/291690581130?hash=item43ea1d0c8a:g:0-4AAOSwezVWykcP
  19. this should be great, i would go if i was there
  20. pat martino is at the absolute top of his game rt now, after last nights show i really have to think he might be the best jazz guitarist working today
  21. that story is definitely perfect for "flying high up on the wings of love", my favorite wedding song
  22. to tell u the thruth ive seen a lot of pablos but never this one
  23. i might see it in the theatre, i guess- i mean im not gonna 'get' any more out of it at the theatre than if i watched it next yr on nextflix or whatever...........i mean its not like it was shot in cinemascope and its only showing for 7 days, every 5 years. i might wait till netflix
  24. you mean, its a """(in the style of) Sun Ra Arkestra""" record?
