  2. my frank morgan story is i totally saw him with art farmer. thats right. art farmer & frank morgan, back together. bass player andy simpkins of the 3sounds, was it like central ave during the bebop days? you godamn better believe it was. didnt meet frank morgan and tell him how awesome his GNP record with machito is, but definetly went over with art farmer who said there totally was a monk band, with him and hank mobley, and yes they really did a steve allen show spot
  3. what you really need is the Phoenix records issue called "out there", its on ebay semi frequently for under $20. its a 1980 repress of a trip lp, on better vinyl. sound q is fantastic on this

  5. lon dawg not only would u of loved the setlist (see above) but you would of loved the pre-concert field trip i planned out. fri nite we took a short drive up to hayward, to visit frenchy's: the site of the 1st gig w/ Phil, exactly 50 yrs & 1wk prior to our visit. as you very well know most or many of the placed they played thru the years no longer exist, but frenchys believe it or not is still a very active nightclub (club pariso), when we showed up it was poppin. its a mexican club now, not mariachi music but that traditional style mexican dance music with horns and stuff, (ranchero? there were drumsets sitting outside for the next act waiting to go in, lots of people, they wouldnt let us in (dress code) but we were there.
  6. the best and most nutz set so far was santa clara night one set 2, i did they pay per view method, i payed for a ticket and viewed it from the 40 yd line Cryptical Envelopment -> Dark Star -> St. Stephen -> The Eleven -> Turn On Your Love Light -> Drums/Space -> What's Become Of The Baby -> The Other One - > Morning Dew

  12. again, so bad need upgrade. i mean they can redo all the 50s stuff but the audiophile reissues of 60s bns is definetly lacking by comparison, a lot of my favorite bns of the 60s have never been redone

  16. dawg is yours not the 80s DMM pressing, cause i have the common press of this, omg its my far the nosiest hank disc in my entire collection. i would just love to see this session recut as an audiophile lp set, it seems way overdue
