  1. i forgot about that album but you are right brubeck did that, but peanuts is really guaraldi territory.i think others have redone them too, i think david benoit did a guarlidi tribute album in the peanuts style, prob others.
  2. I had the one (ST 45) with "elusive Butterfly" on it in my hands once but I had been so disappointed by Lee Morgan's 45 of Midnight Cowboy that I didn't get it. Spooky has love is Blue on the B-side, I don't know if even ST can do much with that... itre- spooky, its a duke pearson arr., right-- it doesnt saw on the jazzdisco pg but i wouldnt be suprised. well blue note was gonna do the midnight cowboy single with or without lee morgan, and im thinking, i think its pretty awesome that blue note went to their #1 trumpet guy for it. it gets poo-pooh'd a lot in the morgan-canon but in one little throwaway single lee morgan sets the stage for "feels so good". i wish it was a whole album! ---- also totally awesome that it is the only recorded collabration of Lee Morgan + Airto!!!
  3. wow yr right, need to get one asap!
  4. bjp accent on the blues alt take //// also the stan t "spooky" cover is amazing, cant believe wasnt a single
  5. mosaics reissuing it (cd): why have i never seen this before, i cant believe they did that cover- check out the orig, its on columbia no less, i would of noticed this one if i had come across it, i cant believe ive never seen it in the bins (and if i did, yes, id hold out til i found the white label promo):

  9. so i put all my prestiges in order by cat. no. and at the end i have the 10100 series, this david newman lp, patrice rushen too- the other series were reissues after it, then on the discography-page it goes right into next what i guess is the 1st early cd issues for them, which marks the end of their discog (the one on jazzdisco.org). ----why did it wrap up in 1980 or whats going on with that, i dont think a lot is known about this, blue note has had much more said about it
  10. it was used a lot in pop/rock in the late 70s and early 80s- phil collins face value has aural exciter all over it

  17. very interesting - is that painted sign on thebrick original?
  18. we're talking abt the cd vers, rt? i bought a 2nd one maybe 5 yrs ago i got a # in the 4700 range out of 5 and the reason i bought it then is cause it finally came up as running low in the catalogue and i thought it was time to do it. you mean its still for sale when all the others from that time are long sold out? i dont get the catalogs anymore...:(
  19. the beavs at dolphins, posted on the Vintage LA page-- and look hes standing directly underneath a record with hank mobley on it! for reals what was he doin at dolphins anyway promoting that single of his, when you have records like -that- to choose from at dolphins, you got prestige frank wess, jimmy forrest, curtis amy & frank butler down the left end and chico, and look at that quincy jones there, i dont know about that one bein rright up there on the rack between a prestige record and a record with hank on it... ok ok what im actually spinning though? 9/29/81- frejus, FR, aud recording, 3lp box. this is like a level 10 rare one for sure, i never actually thought id own this, i just got it
